i watched the 5c's at the apple store....

so i assume they are used by people who try them....

i noticed that the sim tray is a really weak point.... it gets a lot of dirty, it changes the tone of the colour with intense use... it becomes really black on the borders and it becomes too noticeable... this is bad...

did you notice the same? i think it is very disappointing.....

Yeah it's very noticeable on my white 5c, and one of the reasons why I'm returning and going for a 5s instead. I agree it's disappointing :(.

i don't remember the 3g and 3gs having such a big problem in the sim tray....

can you post a picture?

or someone can post pictures?

thank you

i think it is a big problem and noone has noticed it yet?

Those phones in the Apple Store are like public phones in a phone booth ... likely covered in germs and such.

i saw the same thing on the gren 5c of my best friend even after only 4 day of use

Ok I have had a white 5c since launch day morning (8:00 am). My sim tray is still white. It's not nasty or yucky... It's white the color of the phone.

I understand what's being said that dirt gets into the cracks of the sim tray ... Which may be true, but if it does why not get a thin case? Or why not take the tray out and clean it? I don't think it's a major issue!

I'm not doubting that it exists. I was at the Apple Store last night and seen the 5c's. The SIM card tray was black around the edges.

I just wouldn't call it a problem and if it were happening to mine I would throw a case on it.

I mentioned this on a couple of threads about a week ago....as the sim tray doesn't sit flush with the surround (insets slightly into the phone), dirt accumulates around the sim tray perimeter...not to mention that in normal use, the middle finger becomes 'aware' of this defect..

I call it defect as I don't feel that it is like this by design....the sim tray should sit flush..

Slightly disappointing and rather distracting (especially on the white 5C) when admiring what Apple have achieved in this design,,,

Yeah sure I'll try post a pic now :).
If my camera ever opens on mac.

Sorry if the pics are big!

There is a minimal gap between the phone casing and the sim tray cover, so of course grease and crap is going to collect in there. It is a pure white phone, so anything slightly off white is going to contrast the beautiful finish. It's not a big deal IMO.

You can't really go by the store models anyway. People are nasty and don't wash. I like to keep my hands very clean.

You must have a dodgy phone, because the sim tray on my 5c is completely flush with the casing. If I run my finger down the side, all I feel is the hole for the sim removal tool.

Most people won't notice, and if they do they will just take it out and clean it. I am guessing 80% or more more will get a case anyway.

The display models are probably the worst case scenario - people are nasty!

I'd be more worried about the stength of the plastic SIM tray then about how dirty it gets.
I've had dropped iPhones stop working because the SIM was no longer held in place properly and those were metal SIM trays.

If anyone can show me a device that doesn't get dirty after being handles 50+ times a day I'd surely like to see it.

That's my own phone, not a display model.

It's very noticeable on mine, and I did try taking it out and cleaning it but it didn't improve by much tbh and very quickly returns to what it is now (pics above). And the pics above are not a display model, it's my phone.
