Hey I have an Iphone S on 10.1.1 Firmware and I was wondering if I could jailbreak it. I have heard Iphone 5's with a 32 bit system could not be downgraded and be jailbroken, but does the same apply to an Iphone 5S?

Edit: Also i'm not looking to specificly downgrade, if there are other options for jailbreaking (besides scams.) I would appreciate anything :p.

5S is a 64 bit device, but as far as I know it can't be jailbroaken on 10.1.1....not 100% sure though

Are there any official sources where I can check if I could jailbreak my phone? Like an offical Yalu Page or something?

The internet seems pretty shady with this stuff whenever I try looking for a solution on the internet.

Well thanks for the info, not the info I wanted to hear but it still helped.

I will have to check a few of my older Iphones eventually to see if I can jailbreak them for fun & get an idea how it all works becuase right now i'm clueless of how iphones are properly jailbroken.

I just wanted to know, and I didn't want to make another thread but. Is there a way to check on the progress of how development of jailbreaking is going?

Everything seems really shady to trust and well, it can be complex for someone to get any sort of official answer, does like, the developer of the software (and hardware.) Have like an official twitter page or progress / update log?

No.

Sorry to be so blunt, but there is really no way to know unless YOU are the actual jailbreak dev working on the jailbreak.

The problem is that jailbreaks are developed by people, not organizations. Sometimes a group of people come together for a jailbreak but it's collaborative - not business.

The other issue is that these people/groups tend to be secretive. There is a lot of failing involved in making a jailbreak and a lot of false claims. Most people don't want their miserable failures on public display. Twitter can be quite brutal, especially if you got hopes up and couldn't deliver.

You also don't want to go tipping off Apple so that there is an immediate patch to your hard work of many months.

So, no, nothing official you can follow because none of this have ever been more than a personal effort.

The best you can do is follow reddit.

Bummer, sorry to hear that.

I also suppose it's becuase of legal issues where & depending the software (or hardware.) Is made, I know some places take it extremely un-tolarable. & others not really.

I have normally only hacked into video game consoles and stuff so everything is consistently well organized. But I suppose it's different becuase an Iphone could actually be used as a weapon for hacking or literally just bad mojo for anything else untolurable.
Sometimes I honestly wish companies would allow these types of new additions (like tools, or cosmetics.) To be used by their permission & not just see things one way like adding new additions is good or bad.
