Hi guys,

I found an iPhone 5s on Gumtree aus for 400. The imei checks out and he says he's only selling because it's an unwanted xmas gift. Is it too good to be true? What should I be looking out for?

Thanks!

I think the main think to check out is if the phone is on a contract with a carrier. If it is and he stops paying the monthly bill then it will get IMEI blocked and will be useless.

Of Course ensure it is working by taking a Sim card with you and ensure his Apple account is removed from the phone and Find my iphone is switched off.

he could go have it exchanged there is a 50/50 chance it's "too good to be true" if the price is much lower than Apples retail price.

there is a lot of scamming stories around these days, scamming in ways that was unimaginable few years back.
