iPhone 5S and iPad mini retina, different cellular strengths?

Is there a difference in cellular capabilities? I have both devices and both are jail broken.

Sitting here right now iPhone has three bars of 3G and iPad has three bars of LTE.

Why would that be?

The iPad only needs a data connection, while the iPhone needs a voice connection as well, which is different. That can certainly account for some of these types of differences.

Indeed. Also the iPad probably has a bigger antenna thanks to its size.
