With 8.0 im getting 4 hours active usage

Any improvement with 8.0.2 ios?

Threads like this is how Android fanboys get to make fun of us.
Tell that to my Nexus 5 on airplane mode and on wifi that dies in 1.5 days on standby and my nexus 7 that's in wifi that dies in one day of standby. D:

Holy god WTF is wrong with you millenials? 8.0.2 has been out for a handful of hours.

Didn't your mother teach you to chew before you swallow? Jesus, kids these days.

Nope Im getting 4 hrs of active usage with my iphone 5s and ios 8.0

Just installed 8.0.2 so lets see

You just proved your own point. You will have to wait and see. I would say 2-3 days before you can make an adequate judgement.

Had mine for about 6 hours now and omg it is *****.
When I finished installation was at 80% and I pretty much didn't use my phone for three hours... Then as soon as I sent a couple of texts, and replied to two emails, battery dropped from about 79% to 43%.
That's pretty horrific for an iPhone 5S.
I only had three or four apps open at the time and was using 4G, not wifi. But still pretty bad.
I'm hoping there's a fix for this soon...

If you didn't do the install on a full charge it's going to need to recalibrate. It also needs to finish a lot of background stuff.. Leave it on the charger overnight with WiFi connected, reboot in the morning, and see what happens

Battery life is fkn fantastic with 5s on 8.0.2.

Probably better than 7.1.x for me. Only been 2 days though - will wait a week or so and hope it remains consistently good.

Yep, highly recommend recalibration and let the battery complete its trickle charge to full (100% indication in the status bar of the phone is not 100% in reality - some activity monitor apps will let you know when its really 100%), then reset the phone while plugged in. I expect you would get solid battery performance after this, unless you have some rogue app doing its bastardly deeds in perpetual cycles.

phone went from 98% to 63% from 12pm til about 5 min ago id say 1:40pm eastern, minimal text, tried to send a pic text but that didnt send and i checked the daily lottery numbers

That's with a lot of heavy usage, like video streaming.
I'd say it has improved by 20-30% on my 5S which is pretty good.

Didn't observe any major changes to the battery life with iOS 8.0, so we'll see what 8.0.2 brings. On iOS 8.0, one of my gaming apps seemed to suck battery life more rapidly than before. But, the standby drain seemed much less, and suspect that occurred because I activated wi-fi calling and I live on a street with a relatively weak voice signal (which can kill battery life because the phone's working harder to lock onto the signal).

Better than on 7.1.2?

For me it is. I actually was able to download 8.0.1 before they yoinked it, so I've had a couple days on it. Battery life for me on my 5S is noticeably better than 7.1.2, and especially 8.0.0 where it took a bit of a dive.

Pretty happy right now.
