For me it is. I actually was able to download 8.0.1 before they yoinked it, so I've had a couple days on it. Battery life for me on my 5S is noticeably better than 7.1.2, and especially 8.0.0 where it took a bit of a dive.

Pretty happy right now.
Amen.

Ok I charged the iphone 5s fully and did a reset. Will report the results here.

5s. Full charge, down to 1%. 5 hours 30 minutes of usage. iOS 8.02

I'm going to fully charge and do the reset as well. Will report back with results.

So I did a reset and now there is no battery usage info just hyphen! What's with this?

I updated with 60% battery. Charged to full this morning, down to 21% by 5pm, and 5hr 28min usage. Going to drain to dead now, then full recharge. Should be even better.

That's great battery life!

If you reset the phone, it will do that. Plug it in again and make sure it's shows fully charged. It should start calculating again.

Recently updated my iPhone 5S to the iOS 8 (yesterday on iOS 8.0.2) and I got strange battery behavior. Actually, the point is in battery percentage, the phone isn't showing it correctly. It goes down normally to 61% and than just drop to 59%. It also repeats on some other percentages and it's so annoying. This never happend to me while i was using iOS 7. Some people told me that they have this issue too, but no one knows how to get rid of it. My phone is 4 months old, so I suppose the battery is in good condition, I put it on charger overnigt and have regular charging every nigth. I did a clean restore, set it as new device, but problem is still there. Does anyone have solution to this problem? Usage is also horrible, I get about 5-5,5 hours of usage per a day.

Thanks!

try run the battery right down till the phone shuts off, try to keep the phone at an identical temp for the duration if possible(cooler battery means temp less capacity & can throw off calibration), then plug it in & let it charge fully to 100% uninterrupted, u can use it while charging just dont take it off the charger, though some say u shouldnt use it when charging this way, as always opinions are left/right

also when plugging it in after dying it should charge for at least 1.5 mins(90 sec) before it self boots, if it boots instantly then it could mean an aweful need for calibration, or a starting to fail battery(see iphone 5 battery shutdown problems, & mine was affected by it, severely)

Did it two nights ago when it was on iOS 8.0. It run down to zero and shuts down. I left it for a few minutes and then put it on charger. Past about 2-3 minutes before self boot and it powers on. Left it for overnight charge and picked it up tommorow morning on 100%. Used it normally but when it came to 61%, after 6-7 minutes it dropped to 59%. I pluged it on the computer and run iTunes. Phone summary on iTunes showed that the phone is at 60% but when I looked at the iPhone it showed 61%. Totally blindly! :(

I'll try this callibration again tonight, then we'll see the results.

Yes I tried to do reset after 100% charging. The iphone 5s running 8.0.2 just gave me 5 hours of usage!

One thing I noticed is that the cellular signal at home is choppy and weak. So the iphone keeps looking for connection (sometimes it's connected, sometimes it says "No Service"

Could that bleed the battery? Kindly assist.

Definitely. The phone will increase power to find the signal.

8.0.2 Battery Life Still Bad

I updated to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5 yesterday. In summary, my battery drain is about 2x what it was under iOS 7. After charging it and using for 1 hour reading an eBook (and ~15 hours standby usage), I was at 31% this morning. Normally, I'd be over 60% with that usage. I have good cell coverage, good WiFi signal, and don't use push email.

I didn't get to try iOS 8.0 for comparison. I was one of those who were stuck on FIOS with 50-hour download attempts that would eventually fail.

I also have an iphone 5s and have poor battery life and cell signal after updating to 8.0.2. On 8.0 the phone was great no issues. Using facetime this morning over wifi i watched the battery go from 95% down to 83% in about 6 minutes. Phone calls are now choopy as is i have a poor connection and people on the other end ask if I am in a bad signal area because i keep breaking up.

I recharged and reset my iPhone 5 this morning. Battery life today is MUCH better than yesterday. I don't know what to attribute it to beyond the reset. I'm at 95% after 10 hours. Hard to complain about that.

Try it with wifi calling if your carrier has that feature enabled. It seems that with iOS8 my standby drain occurs much slower. Wifi calling has been enabled so that might be the reason.

A weak signal will drain the battery faster than normal.

I downgraded back to iOS 8 after spending just less than a day on 8.0.2, that thing was chewing through my battery life (5S). I know it's probably not the right way to go in terms of evaluating battery effects, but I was not about to get stuck on 8.0.2 after 7.1.2 signing stopped just the other day.

5s on 8.0.2 Wifi and BT on all day.

I'm finding a slight drain happening even with brightness all the way down, 3G and Wifi signal both strong... 56% down to 36% in 45 minutes. Phone stayed on airplane mode all night.
