I thought I'd give the iOS 8 beta a try but some apps were just too buggy for it. When I go to restore it it tells me the firmware isn't compatible. I have a verizon iPhone 5s and I downloaded the correct .ispw for this (CDMA). I have tried this multiple times and on multiple computers and it just seems to think it's not the right software. 🙁 Does anybody know what I should do?

iPhone 5s can't restore to iOS 7.1.1

Are you sure you downloaded the correct IPSW file? There are different versions.

Use recovery mode (do a quick online search) and that will automatically download the right latest firmware for your phone on its own as part of process.

I'm scared that recovery mode will not work and then I won't be able to get out of it. I don't understand why the ispw I downloaded is not working. I have downloaded the correct one for this phone from multiple sources and they just do not work.

Recovery mode is really the way to go for something like this.

I had exactly the SAME problem. Recovery mode is the only way out. Don't worry, you can't go wrong. iTunes will do most of the hard work for you.
