    Hey
So after using my new 5S i quickly discovered that the display stretches a little after closing background apps.
I duplicated my Phone to my Mac using Reflector to record it, its easier to show you than to explain it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrU7hXQ-xxw

Look at the top of the screen, you'll see it stretch out slightly as i come back to the home screen.

Has anyone else experienced this on the iPhone 5S?
I did not have this issue on my 4S, or on my iPad Air.

Is there any way to fix it? or should i return it?
    Thanks.

    Okay, new question:
Does anyone own a 5S that doesn't have this "problem"?
I heard with some friends and they all have it, so i'm curious.

Mine does this too. As far as I'm aware, it's only an issue on the 5S.

    It is pretty annoying.

I was hoping that updates would fix this bug, but nope.

Do you think this is a hardware error or simply a software bug?
If it's software, do you think they'll fix it soon?

    I have no idea.

I will be quite annoyed if it's not something that can be fixed in a software update though.

    Try this:

    Open any app

Whilst in the app, double tap the home button to open up the app-switcher

When in the app switcher, close the same app you just opened (flick it up)

Now the signal/time/battery icons should appear within the app-switcher

At that point, click on the home screen slide in the app-switcher and watch how both sets of signal/time/battery icons merge.

It's ridiculous and disgusting, and I'd not expect such shabbiness from Apple.

    I totally agree.
They offered to send me a replacement phone, but everyone i know with an 5S has this problem, so that's really not the best solution.
I guess we'll just have to wait, and hope that this has come to their attention.
When it does, i'm sure they'll fix it.

Same problem with mine... I thought it would have been resolved by now. Hopefully by the next update!

this is old news. it started happening after 7.0 beta 4 or 5 i think. been this way since then. it was noted in the beta findings/fixes threads awhile back. people think it was just a way to have the top bar info enlarged when on the lock screen for easier viewing at a glance, then shrinks when on the home screen.

That doesn't explain why it only does it on the 5S.

EDIT: actually, ill stand corrected...partially. its barely noticeable from app switcher...if at all. but totally noticeable from the lock screen. and it appears to be more of a shrinking status bar, than a stretch. two totally different effects.

Have you watched the youtube video?

I think you're talking about something else entirely.

Yes I did. Which is why I said the known issue is more of a shrink, not a stretch. I noted it looks like it's something totally different.

A friend running a beta of 7.1 says the issue is fixed.
If any of you are running this beta, can you confirm this?
    Thanks

The issue of that 'stretching' thing is fixed.

However, the status bar appearing after closing an app is still there.

It's amazing if it's really been fixed but I'll only believe it when I see it myself. Both my girlfriend and I have this issue on the 5s. I've posted on here and numerous other sites about this and people either just don't reply, say their iPhone is perfect or say - annoyingly - that it was fixed in a previous release. The video provided in this thread is exactly what I see. Has anyone been into an Apple Store and tried a few of the display models? What's strange to me is that quite a few people say their iPhone 5s doesn't have this since 7.0.3 (the one that fixed the compass/gyroscope issue). A lot of people reported seeing 0 degrees on all sides when on a flat surface but both iPhones in my house are still off by 1 degree. Surely this can't have anything to do with it but it'd be interesting to check some in a store. I'll try to go today.

This will be happening on every iPhone 5S. People who say that it's fixed are probably looking at the wrong thing.

If you watch iPhone 5S vs iPhone 5 comparison videos on YouTube, whenever the 5S come out of multi-tasking, you see this happen. ON EVERY VIDEO.

I refuse to believe anyone has an iPhone 5S that doesn't do this.

Mine is not doing it on 7.1 as of now... then again... it was stuttering on the rotation animation and started to be smooth all of the sudden....

I will try a reboot to see if i get this bug... but it was there on 7.0.4.
