Anybody's iPhone 5S home button really loud? I had an iPhone 5 before and it felt like a solid button. But this iPhone 5S's home button has a very audible click, especially when I let go of it after pressing it. Is this because of the way it's built with the fingerprint sensor underneath, or was I lucky enough to get a defective one? I'm also worried Apple won't exchange this if it's something as small as a louder home button click...

I just posted the same thing....I have the same exact issue. It's nothing too crazy but still a bit annoying. Not sure if others have it as well or just us....
it sounds like the metal ring around it touches something.

My iPad has the same problem. Makes a clicking noise when you tap on it. I took it to Apple and see if it could be repaired, or if the iPad can be replaced. They told me it was "normal".

All of the buttons seem equally loud to me, which is a fairly loud clackclack.

Oh, no, not another one. Click-gate?

Mine has a loud click as well. Was initially concerned the new design with all the expensive components (actually turns out the whole touch id assembly is only $7) wasn't going to hold up but if everyone else's is clicking loudly then it should be fine.

There's a long thread about the click from launch day. I don't notice mine being much louder than my 4. But it is a more distinct click for sure.

I kinda like it. Lol. Let's me know I actually hit the button.

Mine does not make a loud clicking noise but to be honest I don't care, I have a warranty with applecare+ so any problems they will swap it out.
Why do people go looking for problems with iphones? If I press the button and it works then I'm happy.

it's not that unreasonable of a question, especially after 5 years of iPhones with home buttons that all sounded identical.

The 5s definitely does have a different-sounding home button. And I agree, it does seem a little cheap by comparison.

It's annoying, but the main problem I have with the 5s home button is that it is more resistant to pushes, making quick access to multitasking via a double-press even more tedious than before. When I first saw the new home button I was excited thinking that they had made the button only require a feather touch, but this button is a 180 from that. Sometimes I feel like Ive doesn't even use iPhones daily, because this home button hurts usability of software features, not helps.

I think all the 5S's come with the loud click, and it's not even that loud, it's just louder a lil louder than the 5 thats all.

You know, at first I thought mine came with a loud click until I set up my friend's 64 GB silver phone... Mine has a loud click at TIMES, hers is loud all the time. I wonder if once it breaks in, if hers will just get quieter.

I've learn what angles to press my button at so it doesn't make a click at all tbh.

For, probably, the third or fourth time now...

It's a button, it will click.

It's normal. The Home button has changed because of Touch ID, it can't always be the same.

Mines clicking aswell, ive checked all my friends 5s's aswell and theirs clicks aswell. It must be something to do with the fingerprint sensor. no skin of my back if mines not the only one

If Apple made it not click as loud people would complain about that too.

This is what happens when people got too much time on their hands and their worst problem is the click on their home button.:p

If you were older, had a family and job, you would be worrying about your health care and not the home button on your iPhone:p

What really bugged me about past home buttons was not feeling the detent when you pressed it (i.e. the mushy home button). That would drive me nuts (and directly to the Apple Store for an exchange).

As long as I can feel the click, I don't really care much about the sound it makes.

Got my 5s yesterday.. Button is also clicky, but works fine.. It's just different to my 4S's completely silent button..

I prefer a silent musher button.

In my opinion, when it has a loud click it comes off as cheap.

So I have the same "click" that everyones talking about, and quite honestly it annoys the hell out of me. First off I feel like its not as responsive (meaning you have to click harder), also I feel like its going to break.

So, I was thinking maybe its just me, maybe its my Apple OCD kicking in. At work 3 of my colleagues also had the same issue (not officially an issue yet I guess), so I thought cool, everyone has it.

The other day, I just so happened to be at a mall that had an apple store, out of the 5 iPhone 5's I tested, on the display floor, only one of them had this issue, and the rest were flawless! Just like the click on my i5 was.

So basically my post is to confirm that not all of them are like that. The ones I tested at Apple store, had the same click and responsiveness as my previous generation iPhones. I HATE this home button... feels very cheap!

Yep. For me - all of the iPhone displays are a cool blue while my 5 and 5S have a yellow/warm tint. I took them back and compared them and the geniuses told me 'not all phones are the same' and that it wasn't a defect cause the phone works fine. -_- Always have found it odd how store displays are perfect and a lot of iPhones people purchase have terrible screens/defects.
