This has got to be the dumbest thread I've ever seen. And to think people are actually wasting Apple's time and going through their inventory by exchanging phones until they think they get one that's quiet. Just stop.

...The new phone though the home button is a lot nicer to use...

This is the key, and I couldn't have said it better. It's all about the way a person feels when they use something - if the device gives cheap/flimsy feedback, you don't feel good about using it - if you get good/solid feedback - you feel good about using it.

I believe this is Apple's philosophy, and it surprises me that so many people are put off by that fact that some Apple devices are delivering a subpar experience, and come here to complain about it.

...the old phone i could get the button to stop clicking so much by pressing it down on one side...

This is what my home button does, but I can live with it.

My power button is MUCH worse though. It is negatively affecting some of my videos, in addition to sounding like a cheap piece of crap phone. In some video scenes, I can hear it rattling when I play back the video. It happens when I am shooting "action" scenes.

Without a doubt I was serious back then and am still!

Thirty seconds of this video from Apple says it all. If you have the full two minutes to spare, go for it... It starts at the relevant point, so you don;t have to search for the relevant words from the horses mouth.

My power button also rattles, it did on my old 5S and does on the new one. I'm not really bothered about it as i don't do much video but it does make the phone overall feel a little cheap. I'm now on my 4th iphone in the space of 3 months due to different issues. I am surprised as i've never had to swap a phone in the past, i used my galaxy S2 for 2 years and it was perfect.
I'm happy with my new handset even with a rattling power button but i am a bit shocked at the quality of iphones in general.
I've never had an iphone before now but i was expecting top notch quality but it just doesn't seem to be the case. I've had colleagues who have had to get their phones swapped in the past due to various issues, i've got no complaints regarding apple's service as it has been fantastic but my experience so far with iphones has been a bit disappointing which is a shame.

I don't get it? what does it say?, obviously it's a video about the manufacturing process but ......

It touts the superiority of the design, precision tolerances, and build quality of the iPhone 5S. Kind of surprised you missed it...

hey guys apple previously came out with the iphone 5s and many of you probably experienced the loud clicking in the home button this is due to a manufacturing defect in the phone i would suggest you to take it to the apple store and get it checked if they cant do anything about it then i would say just get a new phone.i got my iphone 5s space gray and it doesnt make a loud click noise

I am downgrading from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone SE today. I too noticed that my iPhone SE has the clicking sound which my iPhone 6 does not. The clicking is little high pitch when the home button try to return to the unpressed position. It almost feels like a scotch tape is trying to hold the button to go back. The sound is just like the button detached from a sticky tape. One the other hand, the iPhone home button is totally fine.

My understanding is that both models uses the first generation touch ID sensors. But my iPhone SE home button travel depth is longer than my iPhone 6. Maybe that causes the clicking sound.

I might have to exchange for a new one or just return and get a new one later.
