Wondering if someone can explain something to me

My brother purchased a Tmobile iPhone 5s from tmobile store via the financing plan. He's been with them for over 3months.

From what I gather, he can request that the phone be unlocked. Question is once the phone is unlocked, can he can cancel his phone service (for that line since he's on family plan) and just continue to pay the monthly fee for the iPhone 5s?

No. If he cancels his account then the entire remaining balance on the phone is due on his final bill.

Thanks for the reply. He's not actually canceling the account since its his wife's account but just wanting to close his "line"

I assume its the same scenario either way...

Yeah still the same. If the line using the EIP is closed then they charge the whole balance on the next bill.

Virgin Mobile

Bumping this thread, girlfriend has a iPhone 5s on Virgin, can't seem to get definitive info on whether a international (UK) sim would work when plugged in. Seems like most say it cannot work but just want to get confirmation

Virgin do not unlock their phones. They don't even have an unlocking policy.
