I have an iPhone 5s I keep around as a back up and to test out new OS’s but recently obtained and se and will now be selling my 64gb 5s for tmobile.

After resetting all settings and erasing the iPhone it is still on iOS 12. The beta profile has also been removed.

I guess this isn’t necessarily a bad thing since the 5s seems to be faster on iOS 12 but also found it strange that it didn’t revert back to iOS 11.

Anyhow. Has anyone else experienced this?

Reset All Content and Settings will erase the device of all personal data and reset settings to default. It will not revert to previous iOS. Basically, it just resets the device and stays on the current firmware.

To reverse iOS, you will need iTunes and restore the device which it will always download and update the device to the latest released iOS 11.4.1.

Ahh ok thanks. I really don’t see the downside to having it on iOS 12. I’ll just note that it is in the description.

I wouldn't sell a device on a beta version of iOS, and instead leave it up to the buyer to install the beta if they'd like. Not having the profile will cause the device to stop receiving beta updates, and there is always the possibility of bugs or incompatibility on betas as well.

Good point. I’ll erase it through iTunes.

Just completed doing this and come to find out this iphone 5s is carrier unlocked.

hmmm might just keep it and sell my x to fund the new iphones coming out lol.

Just learned that a tmobile 5s being carrier unlocked is only compatible with gsm(att/tmobile, etc.) networks
But that’s better than a locked one which is only compatible with T-Mobile? Ah I must confess I don’t really understand the carrier system in the US. I’ll butt out. Good luck.

I’m not sure what it means outside of the us but I suppose it has to do with what frequencies the phone is built for.
