Hi,

For a long time my iphone halts almost every time I use it.
The only thing that solves it is shutting the screen and pressing the home button - to re-enter.
Then it works great until the next time (can be a few seconds).
it happened in ios7 and keeps on happening in ios 8 and 8.0.2

Is this a known problem?
Is there a way to fix it?
It looks like it is a software problem but it survived all the upgrades.

Thanks.

This is not normal and not a new issue. I would have recommended a full restart, but you've already done that with the upgrades. At this point, I recommend you back up your phone, do a restore, start as a new phone, then restore your backup. If you don't use the iCloud features, or if you can back everything there up, I would recommend resetting all settings on your phone...another option would be to reset all settings after starting as a new phone, but don't set up iCloud with that phone before you get to that point.

If that does not fix it, then set up as a new phone, then use something like iExplorer to transfer your saved stuff to your phone as a new profile. If that doesn't work, then your phone is bad and needs replaced.
