So a year later, I am wondering if any of you iPhone 5s owners experienced the popular iPhone 5 phenomenon broadly labeled "scuffgate" which I think was a real issue and is why I am holding out on getting the iPhone 5.

So for a potential buyer who would appreciate your input about your experience with the iPhone 5s' durability with the Space Gray/Grey and actually I'm interested about the Silver & White too because in my eyes it's the best looking white iPhone ever, to date, probably something about that home-button-silver-ring that just fits with the bezel and the white.

But to the point, please leave a useful comment based on your own experience and not someone else's. I'm pretty agnostic like that.

And please include the color of your iPhone 5s.

Peace! :apple:

My 5s has scuffs on it, but I blame it to:

- A cheap case which didn't fit perfectly and took bites out of the phone's edges.

- A day of being case-less in a pocket of keys and the case took a beating.

I've had both a 5 and a 5S in Apple's own case.

By the time I was done with the 5, it was scuffed to crap. It looked dreadful. My 5S, after roughly the same usage, still looks brand new.

I've not experienced any scuffing or denting or anything of the sort that would be out of the norm for a one year old phone. My 5s has held up VERY well.. and for the majority of the year I didn't use any case at all. WAY better than my 4s did oddly since it was mostly glass. I think rounded edges that are supposedly going to be on the 6 will actually be even better for scuffs and scratches. I REALLY miss the form factor and rounded edges of the old 3GS although I do not miss the plastic build. Weird I know.

Oh and my 5s is the space gray. My 4s was the black.

My silver/white iPhone 5 still looks good after a year and a half! Just some minor scratches on the bottom near the lightening port; nothing out of the ordinary. The problem with the black 5 was that the anodized coating would come off when it got scratched so you could see silver scratches in it. They supposedly fixed that with the space gray 5s. I don't believe anything has changed with the white/silver between the 5 and 5s. Aluminum scratches. Anyone with any recent Apple device knows that.

Really ? I didn't know they fragmented their design parts for the 5S. I thought the materials and parts were the same for both phones.

As far as I know they changed the anodization process for the space gray. The cases themselves are the same. Some of the parts are different given the upgrades the 5s has.
