hi guys i was wondering if the iPhone 5s will ever get ios 12 because ive heard it is going to be a bug fix and performance update. I was just wondering because im giving my friend a 5s. Please write back. I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Doubt it. iOS 10.3.3 is the last version the iPhone 5 can run. It's logical to assume that iOS 11 will thus be end of line for the 5s.

It might but certainly no guarantees. I’m thinking the 5s (and all other A7 devices) won’t receive iOS 12, but there is a precedent of Apple adding an extra year of support for S cycle phones so who knows.

At this stage it could go either way. As has been noted, the 5 lost support at iOS11 which would suggest the 5s will loose support at iOS12. However, the s models have traditionally had an extra year of support - the 3Gs got iOS6, the 4S got iOS9 so it wouldn't suprise me if the 4S gets iOS12, especially if iOS 12 is more of of a performance/bugfix update.

If the iPhone 6 & 6+ get it, I see no reason why the 5S shouldn’t. A7 with 1gb and 4” screen is equal to A8 with 1gb and 4.7” and possibly better performing than 5.5”..

Given Apple is introducing 3 new iPhone models this September, they really want you to buy a new iPhone.

This combined with the historical 4-year schedule of major iOS updates for Apple application processors means iOS 12 for 5s is unlikely.

Just like the rest of us, you'll basically have to wait for Apple to announce the details relating to iOS 12.

I think she is talking about the iPhone 5S if its getting iOS 12 not the iPhone 6/6S you said.

Seems like the laid out logic there was to relate it to 5s. In any case, all of this is already known about iOS 12, which has been released months ago.
