i first installed ios 9 when it was release on the 16th let my phone settle down for a day, still my phone is lagging on everything, cc, notifaction center, search, spotlight, apps, ect. i then did a complete fresh install with itunes, and again let my phone settle down, didnt even do a restore just a fresh "new phone" and still it is lagging without any music, pics, apps. also i have tried to install the ios 9.1 beta. it helps a little but there is still a lot of lag. anyone else having the same experiences, i have contacted apple support, and they give me "we are working on this around the clock" speech. this is unacceptable, if it wasn't ready for release, witch clearly they had to know that from all the reviews iv'e seen then they shouldn't release it!

Do you have Reduced Transparancy and still wall papers chosen and Reduce Motion toggled on.

This is a known troubleshooting tip.

Yes, I have turned all these on, even turned on the darken color option, I'm not saying it's so bad that my phone is unusable but it is to the point where u can notice it through the whole os

It's also currently possible to downgrade to iOS 8 if you want.
But see this is my point, we shouldn't have to downgrade anything, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but they had to of known of this, why push the software out like this? Lately Apple is doing nothing besides giving there self a bad name

Just toggling both of these settings seems to have helped some people.

I'm not seeing this lag on my 5S with reduce motion off and reduce transparency off.

Was this right off the bat? What features do you have on or off? Spotlight, background refresh, location? I have tried everything I can think of and the ONLY thing that helps is to keep reduce motion, and transparency set too off at all times. Please any help is greatly appreciated

Is the phone slow? Or are the animations just not as smooth?
The phone it self seems fine the animations, and opening apps there is like a 2sec lag, witch doesn't sound like a lot but it makes me feel like I'm using my old iPhone 4

I understand, that lag is the thing that annoys me most on iOS 9. (Mostly because it's worse on older devices) Hopefully Apple will fix it in a later update.

But the 5s isn't really that old, honestly in spec wise the 5s compared to a 6 is like comparing a quad core at 2 ghz to a core i3. If you get what I mean, I get it I know that they do this to get people to upgrade, but seeing how it only cost them 250-300$ to make the iPhone 6s but they sell it for 700$? It's greed this is why people resort to android

Yeah I meant old like the iPad 2 or iPhone 4s, the delay is even longer on them. But it's on all devices to some extent so I'm hoping they'll fix it.

They should with the internet pulling up with complaints on this. But idk Apple has let me down before

Performance on my 5S has been fine since the public release. Close to as good as 8.4.1. What's been killing me is battery life.

My 5s is doing very well. Have you tried to switch off every item in "General">"Spotlight"? A friend of mine had a terribly lagging iPhone 6. After switching everything there off and rebooting, it was much smoother. I suspect Spotlight to be very hungry in terms of battery, memory and CPU. For me, battery life is excellent, but I only have a few third party apps and background refresh is disabled.

My 5s runs better on both iOS 9, seems even better with 9.1. In both cases OTA updates, it's strange that some have problems and some do not. I've turned nothing off spotlight is quick.

It was spotlight indexing the device .... After a while, it will stop lagging

BAR and Location are on. Spotlight I don't use, so I turn it off.

i have an iphone 5S running ios 7.1.1
also have an iphone 6 running ios 9.0
the iPhone 6 is tangibly slower than the 5S at simple tasks like turning on the camera etc. it is kind of annoying.

Yep, same here while using ios9 - lag everywhere. Now Im on 9.1 and its a lot better but still lags here and there. I also use an Android phone so im used to the lag its just i really loved my iphone for the smoothness. No longer.

I did as m.x stated, I went and I turned off spotlight completely, I turned off some background apps, then I did a hard reset, then I went in and toggled on reduce motion, and transparency, loaded up some apps and played around for 20min or so, then turned them back off, and now the only lag I'm getting is from the app switcher, still annoying but I can live either it til a "fix" hits "fingers crossed" ✌

As In a while? I let my device calm down for a whole day and it didn't make any differences how long should this or could this take?

Tested on my iPad Air, and my wife's iPhone 5 turning off Siri suggestions in general>spotlight then doing a hard reset, had fixed all the lag on all my devices other then the minor "shutters" in the app switcher
