Same here. One of the reasons I like the iPhone is because it doesn't have someone's darn logo or anything else distracting on the front.

Fingerprint scanner AND LED transparent neon light notifications. Multiple colorsthat will be very awesome.

You guys are crazy to think a fingerprint scanner can be that small. Look at the tip of your thumb. It looks near identical to everyone else's. A fingerprint scanner of any use needs to cover your ENTIRE print, especially the pad of a finger.
Just assuming the home button is like the picture and doesn't do anything else I think that's in pretty bad taste. That would look just hokey to me. Apple has done a decent job keeping the in your face branding to a minimum.
No they don't have to be that big.

No, they don't have to be that big. And even the tip of your thumb is unique.

Not sure what to think of this, but Letemsvetemapplem have posted a photo of an alleged iPhone 5S home button:

I don't think it's real, but could make sense as a larger window for the fingerprint sensor?

So you think Apple is going to integrate a fingerprint swiper into the home button? That doesn't seem extremely archaic to you? Which way do you swipe? Right to left? What you are implying screams gimmick.
Android had a better method then that on the Motorola Atrix years ago. Much more ergonomic to use your index finger on the back near where it usually rest. Versus adjusting you hand and swiping at the home button.
Btw that pic you post on that is bigger then the entire home button, let alone an Apple in the middle of it. I owned one.

You edited, its a swipe btw.
Edit. Tip of fingers/thumbs are not unique. The scanner use posted requires a swipe to cover the majority of your print. There is an arrow on it indicating swipe direction.
I don't buy it. Apple has its logo already on the iPhone..
"On one hand, it seems a little unsubtle for Apple. A little too strongly branded. Apple usually places their logo on their devices so that it faces away from the devices owner: Apple wants other people to know youre using one of their products, not constantly bludgeon you with their brand."

It's definitely a 5s home button. Even the photo says it is it's written right on there!
That's on an Apple computer, not the iPhone/iPod/iPad and such which are on the back and may I say, Portable, not a fixed home computer as you showed above.![]()
It doesn't matter if it's portable or not...the link was to refute the comment that Apple doesn't put branding on the front, only on the rear.
For me, it makes total sense that Apple would do this for several reasons:
- We know fingerprint scanning is coming to the iPhone. Apple bought a whole company for this purpose.
- The scanner would have to be clear to scan properly. They could do a basic square again or spice it up. I think they'll spice it up.
- A glowing Apple logo that scans your finger has a big "cool" factor to it, plus it helps distinguish the iPhone in a world where smart phones are looking more similar. I'd believe the suggestion that there might be an led and color changes, too, for effect as well as function.
- It improves brand image in a time when Apple's reputation has softened. They need marketing help and a bit of added cool factor or "gotta have it" to make the 5S worth the upgrade.
- It ties in the look to their iMac line with the front logo, which they are working to develop tighter integration with in order to keep people in the ecosystem.
I'd say 90% chance this is real.
