Hi,

I recently got an iPhone 5S, I noticed that the signal strength is weaker than my iPhone 5 and it switch to EDGE a lot where my iPhone 5 can held at least HSPA+ or LTE. Is this iPhone 5S defective or iPhone 5S in general has weaker reception?

Thanks.

May depend on your provider. I have the 5S on T-Mobile, and have the same problem, frequently seeing Edge in areas that their coverage map show as 'excellent' LTE or 4G service. Apple replaced the phone last week, but no change in behavior. My wife's 5S has the same problems. Also on T-Mobile.

i had my 5 on at&t and my 5s is on verizon. I'm not sure if its the service or the device or a combination of both but i get much better signal on my 5s than i did on my 5.

Impossible to tell considering you've switched carriers.

So its not only me! I actually went from a 5 to a 5S and regret it on t-mobile, on a replacement phone and same deal. Im not sure if its the new LTE chip they are using or what but i had much better reception on the iPhone 5

I switched from a 5 to a 5s with the same sim and carrier and I can say they are almost identical regarding signal strength.
