Quite frankly, it's embarrassing and exploitative of Apple to release anything beneath 32gb in 2014 and charge the prices that it does.

Apple has positioned itself as the premium producers of premium products with a premium price. You can't call yourself that and sell a crappy 8gb in a new model phone in 2014 where you can't even upgrade the capacity.

There are plenty of competitors out there selling phones. They need to think wisely about what they're releasing.

----------

BTW, has there been any talk about abandoning the X, Xs system for their new releases?

Galaxy s6 has no removable battery and micro sd card slot. They are going the way of Apple.

Mr Ridiculous here.
Stop churning out the same old 'there are millions of satisfied customers' line. I haven't spoken to every 6+ owner, have you? They certainly don't all post here either. You have absolutely no idea whether they're all satisfied with their 6+ or not. The majority who post here seem to be but that doesn't mean that problems don't exist. The 6+ lags and stutters way more than any i5 or 5S and that's a fact. It also performs worse than the 4.7" iPhone 6. The 6+ also reloads browser tabs and apps for fun, which is something that the two generations older iPhone 5 does wayyyyy less readily. So bearing all of that in mind, I can't say anything other than that the 6+ is the worst iPhone I have owned to date.
Hi Sunking, nice to see you again. I got most of the oddness ironed out of my 6 Plus, though I couldn't explain how to save my life. Still, it has never worked as well as my husband's identical model for me and still has those odd random battery drains even before I got my Apple Watch which would have been a logical culprit. Oddly enough since getting the :apple: Watch I've not had a drain, yet.

The experiment wasn't a failure for me. I've not hated my 6plus and I've coped with the size of it as well as I expected I would. I've enjoyed the many benefits of the impeccable large screen.

But now that I have the watch the phone is less important to me. I have identified my dream team as :apple: Watch and smaller IPhone (probably 6s but if I'm ever sure a 5s sized phone with a kickin' camera and decent battery are coming out, I'm on it) and IPad mini or Air. I've got a great Retina Mini but my daughter is starting to need it so I may take my husband's old IPad Air now that he's bought the new one.

I'm not sorry I got the 6 Plus. It was a necessary venture to help me really solidify in my mind what my true needs and wants are and the devices that will best support them. I don't need or want a phone that big after all. I value itmostly for the phone, the camera and quick Safari lookups, and now as the brains for my new watch. The iPad is my real content consumption device. I find it better suited than even a large gorgeous phone screen could be. But that's just me, and I'm quirky, so I am refraining from advising people on their choices.

For my husband the 6Plus is his most favorite iPhone ever. He's not had one single problem with it and thinks it's the perfect mix of size and features and battery life. He doesn't even care to trade up for an S model on our AT&T Next plan even though it means a new phone at no cost to us. He's that happy with his Plus! To each his own, I guess. :)

So, what are you going to trade your clunker in for?

Went from 5 to 6 and it really wasn't anything close to a shock at all. The plus would likely be more of a noticeable difference.

Use your iPhone 5S for one week (just place the simcard in it)

You'll see a difference.

You hit a lot of stuff right on the head regarding how I feel. My last several months with the Plus made it very clear what I truly value in a phone and a large phone ain't it! I no longer have to wonder if I'm making the right choice going forward. Going back to my 6. I definitely prefer my iPad Air 2 as my main media consumption device. I could never replace it with the 6 Plus. My dream team is the iPhone 6, iPad Air and my MacBook Air for mobile computing needs. That covers all the bases for ME. It's all about what you like and what you're comfortable with.

The discussion was about going from a 5s to a 6, not the other way around. Going from a larger size to even slightly smaller after some time is a more noticeable difference compared to going from smaller to slightly larger, which is different but certainly not a shock as was implied in the post that I responded to with that.

What a relief after selling my 6+ and returning to 6.... no more stretching my thumb :p

I had an iPhone 5 prior to getting the 6. The jump in size to the 6 Plus just wasn't a consideration and any minor differences in features or better battery life could not compensate for the fact the 6 Plus is huge. My advice would be to hit the sweet spot and buy the phone in the middle, the 6. If you don't mind a roofing tile in your pocket then get the Plus lol. I have trialled it since and couldn't get on with it. It's personal opinion but I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 6, it's plenty large enough without the inconvenience imho. :)

I disagree the 6 is actually tiny if you use an iPad and 6 plus.

The big screen is well worth the tradeoff if you like to use the device often.

If you are used to using a massive phone of course the 6 will feel smaller. The OP is coming from a 5S though. I use an iPad daily and don't feel the iPhone 6 is too small as a phone, in fact it's significantly larger than the 5S and still portable enough for everyday use without inconvenience for a lot of people.

Larger screens are always easier to use but that isn't the sole aspect the user has to adapt to. The physical size of the device is a major factor often discussed here and that is something that can't be changed. The user has to decide what their requirements are as its totally subjective to each person.

But you adjust to the size dude just like the hot tub water becomes comfy warm after you sit in it for a minute.

Where it's hard to adjust is the heft. 6plus is heavy for extended use.

Hi folks,

I just wanted to get your opinions on this one...

I currently have an iPhone 5S which I intended on selling to buy the iPhone 6 when it came out, sadly I hesitated and now I find myself mid-cycle.

I have heard users complain about the iPhone 6 plus and friends complain about the iPhone 6 wishing they had bought a 6 plus.

I now have 3 options:

1) Wait for the next generation of iPhone to be released presumably 6S in Sept/Oct.
2) Sell the iPhone 5S while it still has a little value and pick up an iPhone 6.
3) Go for an iPhone 6 Plus and don't look back.

The longer battery life of the 6 plus appeals to me, especially considering I just bought an Apple Watch too...

Sorry for a very personal post in such a public forum but you chaps are the guys to ask...

Hold on to your iPhone 5s and get this great deal on a Mophie Case for it to dress it up as you wait for the sss

I dont think its heavy at all. It feel comfortable to me.

It isn't heavy compared to a suitcase or a roof tile, but compared to the iPhone 5S or even a Samsung Galaxy S6 it's a very heavy phone. You feel it in your trouser pocket, it weighs shirt pockets down, and if you've ever browsed the internet in bed whilst laid on your back and dropped the phone in your face....you certainly know about it.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned but making calls on my 6 with speaker on or off the sound is louder than the 6+. The general UI experience is smoother... for example try to change a wallpaper or double click for multitask and switch between apps. Also i haven't yet experienced any safari crashes or apps to freeze/lag.

None of that is criteria for my needs.

"Weighs shirt pocket down?"

Is that more important of an element to you than lets say...

"Makes your eyes go wooowww"

Because you can only either have a small phone or a big phone. You've got to tradeoff one or the other.

Again, I ask do you even like to use the actual software on the device or is it just utensil to you.

I for one actually enjoy USING the phone software so Id gladly tradeoff a sliver of ergonomic comfort for an ocean of ocular pleasure.

"it weighs my shirt pocket down" -- did you really just complain about that? lol you were serious too...

Once upon a time size and weight were very important, but you're telling me that having a phone that weighs 172g compared to the 112g of the outgoing model is of no consideration whatsoever? As this is a phone, portability matters. Sure I manage to carry my 6+ around but it is much more cumbersome than my old iPhone. The size is to be expected, after all I knew that I was buying a 'phablet' but the weight does take one by surprise. Even after approx six months of ownership, I still find the weight of my 6+ to be an issue.

Some people that have to wear dress shirts for work like to put their phone in their front pocket. Trust me, I would know. Considering everyone has their own personal tastes and desires, you have no business criticizing input of others.

The 6+ is very heavy compared to numerous other phones on the market, that's a fact regardless of your personal opinion. The 4.7" does run better considering it has a million less pixels to push; it's not difficult to understand considering they have the same chip. Do YOU comprehend math?

My wife has a 6+ and it still has problems all the time, even on 8.3. It is FAR from a masterpiece, like you claim it to be. I would not recommend that phone to anyone in it's current state.

sunking101 has legitimate gripes about the 6+.

Until battery makers get better at making batteries (more power out of smaller packaging), we will always trade off between size:weight as we know it.

Six plus is a beast hours wise but you trade off size and weight. Sucker is a heavyweight.

It still makes me laugh people actually think the iPhone 6 is 'tiny'. We had the iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5S then all of a sudden we get two bigger devices and the smaller of the two is considered 'tiny'?! Are they for real?

Once upon a time size and weight were very important,

Yeah I know that's what I'm trying to say.

It's a mentality and criticism from a bygone era when we had flip phones and only cared about phone calls and messages.

We didn't really use the phone for so many things back then.

So of course small size was more important than function. There was hardly any function to speak of and it was the same function for a small or big phone because all it could do was made calls so smaller was better.

But its 2015 now. Now smaller means less screen real estate. So going smaller makes so little sense for how much you have to give up in the tradeoff.

It is FAR from a masterpiece, like you claim it to be. I would not recommend that phone to anyone in it's current state.

So you're telling me if some random guy was saying he likes to make videos, music, and play games on a high quality vibrant screen and browses the web and reads a lot and wants a nice power user phone and asked you if you recommend the iPhone 6 Plus, you would recommend he doesn't get it??

Lol, what would you recommend instead?

You would tell him it's trash and it has problems?

And then what if he went and bought one and tried it out and it worked perfectly unlike anything you were describing, that would make you a liar lol.

According to the poll the vast majority have no problems with the 6+ yet you would tell him they all have problems?

That is plain malicious IMO. What is on your hidden agenda??
