iPhone 6/6 Plus Bluetooth - 4.0 or 4.2?

The Apple page for the 6 and 6 Plus says 4.2, but I was under the impression 4.2 didn't come out till December 2014?

As far as I know some features can be supported via software update, so it is possible that iPhone 6 is supporting bluetooth 4.2 thanks to an iOS update

On the UK Apple specs page for 6, it says Bluetooth 4.2
