iPad Air 2 has 2GB of RAM!

Seems like it, I'm still holding off on upgrading where as I was ready to insta buy the iphone 6, the only reason I'm hesitant is because of the RAM.

Meh. I guess so but the phone only has to last 2 years (in my case anyway) which it will do handsomely even with 1GB RAM.

Will be buying an Air 2 for that lovely memory bump anyway!

I think the new iPads are always a step ahead of the iPhone's. Spec wise, it gives us a good idea what will get the next year. Expect 2GB in the S models next year. They will probably still keep the 16/64/128 until the iPhone 7.
