I thought people would get it on the 19th the earliest...

The general public will get them on the 19th, I would guess that these are probably Apple employees who since the phone has been announced now can use their devices in public.

Reviewers also get them as soon as they are announced so they can use them for a week before the public.. This way they can get their reviews ready..

Silly question but is that a 6 or a 6plus

Yeah, I wanna know too.
Is that a 6 or a plus?

----------

We should start seeing a lot of pics and articles from testers once the embargo is lifted either tomorrow or Wednesday is history has anything to do with it.

OMG!!! I'm glad that someone saw someone with one cause I was questioning whether the iPhone 6 (especially the 5.5" one) even existed!!

Great! Then move on. There are hundreds more that will find it interesting.

No one says you have to believe it, or the visual proof for that matter. Does it matter that I saw a second? Why lie about it when I already posted proof of one? Does seeing the second make the first (with a picture) less credible. I feel for you.

You shouldn't feel for me. I mean I cannot tell you why but you'll just have to believe me.

Either a reviewer or Apple employee.
Wouldn't be a retail employee. We didn't get hands on with a new iPhone until 30 minutes before we lifted the store gate on launch day.

If it's a corporate employee, or worse, the spouse or siggy, they're risking losing their job with one of the best companies to work for over a phone.

Obviously your word is not good enough for some. Ignore the 5 year olds

Nice catch. I'm not surprised there out already. Happens a lot.

The funny thing is I ordered one Saturday and one Sunday from Apple on line and mine will be here on the 19th. They are both gold though but still find it interesting all the struggles folks are having getting them on launch day. Sorry a little OT but glad to see they are out , maybe we can get some decent user reports.

I've already spotted two 6's out in the wild (in San Francisco). Anyone else spotted any? Got a picture of one. The other would have been much, much tougher.

Cool find!

Reminds me of the time a buddy saw a 4 in the wild 2 weeks before the launch. He was telling the story (no one believed him), and then he provided a similar picture (and it was clearly a 4... he's a photographer and it was with a DSLR).

Pretty cool stuff, definitely happens, and is primarily so they can see if there are any quirks "in the wild" they can iron out with a quick update at launch (similar to 7.01 last year).

I'm sure there are thousands out there now.

I got a Moto 360 on my wrist. Bet you will see more of the 6 before launch than you will that watch even though it has already been launched.

iPhone 6 already out

OP, why didn't you ask the woman how she got it this early before everyone else??

Yesterday the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco had its free admission day and it was a very long line to get in, as I walked to the back of the line I noticed a guy in line taking pictures with an iPhone 6.

I'm going to assume they are employees of Apple but who knows, it was definitely an iPhone 6 (and not a case or other device, it was the white/silver model).

Being a Pro Photographer many times folks will be out testing new release cameras before it hits the streets. Almost all new product releases the same testing will go on. This is very normal and usually the folks testing sign NDA contracts so they are not allowed by law to report anything in public. I have done this many times myself. Very normal stuff here.

Lets not forget the dumb Apple employee that left an unreleased iPhone in a bar a few years ago...

So where are the reviews if the iPhone has been distributed to some already?

Under NDA rules reviews are not allowed to be posted until it is released. In the photo industry this is very typical. I would suspect all press and beta testers for Apple products fall under the same rules.

This is normal. My bet Friday morning it will happen on all the forums and tech sites

Btw I'm not a beta tester for Apple. I have been for many camera releases though. I'm under a NDA right now for a software program in the photo industry.

They may have been distributed but they are still being tested before they write a full review, the embargo usually gets lifted on Wednesday 9pm east/6pm west, so my guess is we'll see them in a few days.

Agree its up to Apple to lift the embargo before we see anything. Wednesday would be nice

Actually it's not on release day but on the day the embargo is lifted for the NDA which is usually the Tues. or Wed before launch day.
