iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Out-Of-Warranty Repairs Cost Up to $299/$329

With the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus now available to customers, Apple has updated its support information to include U.S. repair pricing for the two devices. While all new devices include a standard one year warranty that can be extended with AppleCare+, the standard warranty does not cover accidental damage.

Repairs for screen damage, which includes cracked or shattered displays, will cost $109 for the iPhone 6 and $129 for the iPhone 6 Plus, along with a $6.95 shipping fee.

Accidental damage (water damage, for example) or out-of-warranty damage to an iPhone will require users to pay a fee of $299 for the iPhone 6 or $329 for the iPhone 6 Plus, along with the $6.95 shipping fee. That's far more affordable than the cost of a new device, but it is still more expensive than iPhone 5s repairs, which are priced at $269.

Apple also quotes a $79 flat fee for a battery replacement, but devices that have a defective battery will be eligible for free repairs for the entirety of the one year warranty that comes standard with iOS devices.

Apple does offers AppleCare+, which covers two incidents of accidental damage for a $79 service fee each time, cutting down on the cost of a replacement device. AppleCare+ is available directly from Apple for $99 in the United States.

Good info! I'm happy they are offering theApple care because if I drop my iPhone 6+ I'll have to murder a panda!
 
You pretty much have to factor the cost of AppleCare into your Apple purchase decisions.
 
I'm curious how this compares to carrier insurance. I have AT&T, and insurance is $10/month. The advantage to carrier insurance is that it also cover loss and theft. I can't remember how high the deductible is, though - I think it's $100.
 
Dont even want to think about what the prices are gonna be in Aus.. However we do have a 24 month warranty here for genuine device faults (which Apple fails to mention to you at the store)
 
I've never gotten AppleCare before for an iOS device, but I'm tempted this time around just because my 6 Plus feels so slippery. Worried it'll fly right out of my hand one day.

so that's $240 over the course your contract and $100 each replacement, no matter the reason. So lets say at 13 months in your speaker stops working. Not wet, not dropped, just takes a dump. You are out of warranty with Apple at this point so you go to ATT to use your insurance. Which to date has cost you $130 and now you have to pay $100 to get it replaced (they don't do repairs). That's $230.

But for that $99 for Apple Care you would have a two year warranty and it would have been repaired for free.

drop your phone in the pool and it would $100 with ATT but $79 with Apple. And the carrier insurance programs offer no vetting of the quality of the item you get, unlike Apple. Heck for the first 3 months or so you can basically guarantee that an Apple replacement is a new phone same as the retail ones cause any returned phones go to EFFA testing and wouldn't be torn apart and 'reconditioned' so quickly. The carriers on the other hand just toss whatever at you. sometimes the old users data isn't even erased

That's a good question. I've never needed to use this 4 times on an apple device. The first year is already covered by apple for defects. So those dont count. But good thoughts.

79 with AC+. But you only get that twice.
 
That screen replacement cost sounds good. Just last month Apple charged $269 + tax for a replacement 5s when my screen broke. Luckily I was reimbursed by SquareTrade.

Probably without. Replacing a screen probably costs a lot less than replacing an entire device.
 
No price drop for replacement service on a 5s, 5c, 5, 4s, or 4 even though they are all now a year older and now worth $100 less? :mad:

Greedy Apple... veeerrry greedy.

AppleCare is a flat $79 for two repairs. It will cost $79 to fix a broken iPhone 6 or 6 Plus screen. The $109/$129 is for out-of-warranty repairs.

Yup, that's the cost WITHOUT Applecare. Now presumably this is for the in-store repair, so you won't get a new body...just the display. For me today, I did get a whole new iPhone for $109 just because they don't have the machines yet.

I have AT&T and I purchased my 6 with the companies next program, not paying full price for the phone. I got the AppleCare plus and I'm still keeping my insurance with AT&T because god for bid if my phone were to be lost or stolen, I don't want to still be making payments on a phone and be responsible for a debt on a phone I don't have anymore. With that being said, having both insurances is totally worth having for an $800 iPhone 6 64g.

ATTs deductible is actually $200
 
Doesn't it seem like they are lowering the value of Apple care slightly with such cheap glass replacement costs? I guess on the other hand if you completely wreck your phone or give it a bath, you'd be out $849 without apple care? (for the 64gb 6+)

It's $200, but if ur on next program and the phone is lost and/or damaged.. You'd still be responsible for paying off that balance. It's worth having AppleCare plus and insurance with your carrier.
