There's also an increased drop risk because it can be harder to keep your grip on a larger phone, especially if you try to use it with one hand.

Square trade is cheaper with better coverage than Applecare.

Damn. Never heard of Square Trade before you mentioned it, seems too good to be true... Also I love not using a case so this just seems too perfect! :3

Is the product really improved if I now need a case? I have never used a case for iPhone 3G/4/5 and have only suffered minor scratches. I don't want a svelte device only to clad it in plastic or leather.

I agree. I've rarely used a case and never had a problem despite my chronic butter fingers. Getting a case always seemed like buying a Monet, wrapping it in craft paper, and putting it on the wall.

So if they've made a phone that HAS to have a case, then why not just build durability into the product?

Damage seems to happen along the lines of the original iPhone. Dents, separation of the front panel from the casing when dented or disfigured almost at all. Very interesting. Doesn't seem like the casing itself is very thick. There are definitely reasons for doing it this way however I do hope this doesn't kill the image of it being a robust little device in every way. Each redesign has brought enhanced physical strength and I think this may be a few steps back for the sake of making an attractive and thin phone.

Glass shatters and aluminium dents when dropped on solid ground.

In other news, the sky is blue.

Some of us live in homes with hard flooring -- even concrete flooring. I have dropped my 5s many, many times. I know already based on my iPhone 6 knockoff that I will drop the 6 even more so. A decrease in durability isn't a good thing in my opinion.

Good old statistical significance! I see people are "concluding" things based on this "evidence."

I will now list all the phone models in the world that have zero chance of breaking in one drop:

Doesn't matter to me. I've had every single iPhone so far and I've dropped one maybe like twice. Never broken a screen. I just don't know how so many people do. I'm extremely careful with something I pay hundreds of dollars for.

Perhaps people should be more careful with expensive things.

As another poster in another thread said the other day about how he's never used a case on any phone and they always look like new- How often do you drop your sandwich? Your banana?

Read it aloud, folks-

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS!

Same thing I've been saying for years.

It's no big deal.

Under Settings > Gyroscope make sure "Feline Reorientation" is set to "off". That will ensure that the iPhone always drops into its back and not its face.

You're missing the new option under Settings > Levitate that will automatically recognize when your phone drops with various sensors that detect speed and pressure, and will use it's internal gravitational minerals to float your iPhone safely above ground.

Haha, this is great. You gotta act like you been there. Can't crack under pressure son!

That's the conclusion I reached too. And that's not a good thing. Phones should be getting more durable, I think.

Well problem is people whine if it isn't paper thin..... I'd prefer a more robust phone as well but they have to appeal to the methphone heads.

Ummmm you don't HAVE to use a case. Not sure where you got that info from.

Phones are turning into one of the most used tools in the world. You can pay with it, talk to your mom, text your kids, navigate, learn, listen to music, watch films, pay bills, take a picture, send an email; the list goes on and on. You would think such an important tool, crafted by the company who provides that tool to a good percentage of the world, would construct it with some utilitarian thought in mind, but it seems with Ive at the helm it's gone all aesthetics.
Don't complain to apple complain to all the apple fa.... Oh yeah... can't say those words together word..... blame the people that want a thinner and thinner phone.

In related news, I always rock my iPhone naked, but I like the look of the Apple leather cases, and I'm considering picking one up. At least for when I wear athletic shorts or something where my phone is under more desire to jump out of my pocket.

I never understand why these people spend all this money on an iPhone just to drop it on the ground on YouTube for a few views. Give me that damn Phone if you're gonna Eff it up. Sheesh.

The money they receive from the ad revenue more than covers the cost of the iPhone.

1. Because they can.
2. Because other people are curious to see how it will survive when dropped.
