A few days ago, I noticed my iphone 6 home button started only working when pressed near the edges. Now, it no longer works at all and the phone must think the home button no longer exists because it pops up with a message saying that touchID cannot be activated.

The button click feels normal, it's not loose, I've opened the phone and checked the connections and everything seems to be connected just fine and connections look clean. Is there anything else I can try to get the button working again (and still have touchID)?

I would get a diagnostic ran on it to make sure it still exists to the phone and if it doesn't you'd likely need to get it serviced.
