iPhone 6 Case Compared to iPhone 5s, Nexus 5 and Galaxy Note 3 in New Video

The advantage is that you control the market for a short period of time when it first launches since no one else will have a case available.

How can a cheap Chinese case manufacturer control the market when they barely have any distribution?

That's what I was saying earlier.... the big case manufacturers wait until there is a shipping iPhone in their possession. And they will fill Apple Stores and Walmarts with cases when they are ready.

But we see leaks of these cases months before... from no-name case manufacturers in China.

Let's say the pink case in this video is the real deal. Who makes it? Where can I buy one at launch?

Maybe they're the same manufacturer of the very first iPhone 5 case. So where are they today?

The makers of the teardrop iPhone 5 cases were clearly wrong. But I'm sure there were others who guessed correctly.

So again... did they really have an advantage? I mean an actual advantage... not theoretical.

Surely there must be evidence of the first iPhone 5 case leak that turned into a shipping retail product... and how they enjoyed mega sales because they had the only iPhone 5 case on the market.

Right?

4.7" seems like a good compromise between people thinking the iPhone is too small and Apple not wanting to make a phone that starts to blur the lines between what is an iPhone and what is an iPad.

4.7" vs the 5" HTC One M8 and 5.1" Galaxy S5 is close enough where screen size no longer would be a major point of differentiation. The decision would then come down to iOS and Apple's cleaner ecosystem vs Android and waiting 6 months for software updates in exchange for widgets and 4,000 home screen customizations. If you also own a Mac and/or iPad, the decision should be pretty easy.

REMEMBER: Google is a search engine advertising company. Android only exists to give Google a mobile platform to mine user data so they can SELL MORE ADS. Pay-per-click...look it up.

Right?
All these cheap cases are sold through ebay and amazon. The name recognition means nothing because they are buying 2$ cases off a search on said sites.

I am all for this, I personally think the 4.7 inch is the perfect size. 5.5 is way too big, but people like that size, and Apple should have an option for them. I do think the "height" of the larger ones can be a problem. Apple might have to change up the iconic home button.

The only thing I fear is that Apple completely drops the 4 inch model. I really think that still has a huge market, and it would be a mistake to drop it. I think a lineup of 4, 4.7 and 5.5 would be absolutely perfect, they just upgrade those every year, and everybody is happy.

If it really is the size of the nexus 5 (which it looks to be) and the screen is only 4.7 thats a huge fail. The nexus 5 fits a 5inch screen in the same area iphone can only fit a 4.7inch in? gross. Lets hope this video is not correct.

The Nexus 5 doesn't have a physical home button and instead has to dedicate a portion of its screen for virtual buttons, effectively making the screen size smaller. Thus the end result isn't all that different. To be fair there have been complaints about virtual buttons taking up space in Android and there are ways to hide virtual buttons but I personally found it clumsy when an extra gesture is needed.

I doubt Apple will adopt the virtual button now given that it's less intuitive and the home button makes a very logical place for the touch ID finger print reader. However Apple reportedly did consider doing without home buttons previously so who knows what will happen in the future. They could hide the touch ID sensor behind the screen for all we know at some point.

The big negative for the Iphone 6 might be the huge head and chin areas on the phone. Similar form Android phones utilize that space for screen. If the design of the Iphone 6 is just a blown up Iphone 5, then it will be disappointing.

I still don't understand. Are they going to move the back button from the top left corner? How can one reach it with such a large phone?

In android there's a dedicated back button

Isn't it funny now apple is making a larger phone.

It was only a couple of years ago that Phil Schiller was telling us that wide, large phones are no good for ergonomics.

Another fail on Apple's part.

Apple has seriously run out of ideas - look at the rate they are buying other companies as well.

Unless there are must have iOs apps that you have, make the jump to android now. I did and never looked back.

I don't think anyone is going to jump ship to android based on a poor case rumor. The form factor is always great with Apple as john Ive understands it better than any android ID department. Glad to hear someone enjoys suffer the android OS that's pretty rare to hear. I think you may now go back to your troll hole.

These are the compromises that we're being talked about that meant no larger iPhone last year. I suspect a reworking of the OS is in the works to allow ond handed use for all menus. If they are moving the power button I should imagine back menus will also move. The always in screen keys android uses waste more space than the chin and button on iPhone but it's an area of debate, do you loose those areas for screen? Of do you really need those buttons and some areas for holding. I feel like it may have gone too far already in many phones.

I have a note 3 and I don't use google app or services other than the Play store and Youtube through an anonymous browser. Even for Search I use Yandex more often than google.

Apple never said bigger phones were bad. They said that until the battery life and screen resolution could get to the point of the older phones, THEN it would be alright. We've gotten to that point now.

Done already. You can just just swipe to go back.

I want huge iPhone the size of iPad mini

I am partially blind.
The smallest size screen I can use for texting, reading my ebooks, doing web applications is on my iPad mini with Retina display.

And I see no reason to have an iPhone and an iPad (or iPad mini).

Therefore I won't be happy until Apple makes an iPhone the size of my iPad mini.

Don't even suggest that I go to one of the larger Androids.
I hate Android.

And don't tell me it can't be done.

Oh, I have also tried to use VOIP apps on my iPad mini.
The reception is flaky and the calls dropout too much.

Help me Apple. Help out a Handicapped guy.

I don't think it's in any platform's best interest to force customers to question the validity of a tablet form factor because their smartphone's screen is "big enough".

Apple is always going to do what's right by it's customers, albeit slowly. So 4.7 inches makes complete sense.

Have you used "immersive mode" in Kit Kat, or some older way? I think the new OS-level mode works very well. When you use something where extra screen size is beneficial (movies, games, reading apps, etc.), the buttons go away. When navigating or using apps where you jump in and out, the virtual buttons do their thing. Not all apps support it yet, but that's the direction and it offers the best of both worlds in my opinion.
