iPhone 6 email alert lag?

I am not sure if I am the only one, but I am having some laggy email alerts. I will have an email message come in and I will see it and do something else. A few minutes later I will get the new email alert and go back to my email to see nothing new. Thought maybe it was iOS8, but not having this issue on my 5S.

I have the same problem on my 5S and 6 using iOS 8.

It looks like downloading the message preview is taking a really long time.
