This is going to be great for folks in cold climates once fall/winter arrives, Apple should advertise as feature. No more frozen fingers with iPhone 6!

Lol it has nothing to do with indexing. All previous iPhones needed to go through the same process and none of them got warm. I hope this isn't as bad as my original htc one which also got warm after just a little use. The metal casing is definitely meant to dissipate heat but as an end user it gets very annoying.

My 4s, 5 and 5s got quite warm any time they were restored from iCloud backups.

False.

My iPhone 5 was very very hot for a few hours of initial use.
Then no warm for two years.

Don't all big phones get hot at one point or another. My note 2 gets really hot particularly when I'm talking on it and there's a poor signal or heavy video streaming

Does any one else who has their iPhone6 (4.7") feel its getting warm rather quickly? Only been using it for 30 mins and it feels very warm to touch on the back. My iPhone 5 feels stone cold by comparison.

The phone getting hot is a good thing. The phone dissipates heat a lot better with the materials used. Instead of the heat building up and not being able to go anywhere it can now be removed through heat sinking.

They praised the battery life of the Plus. I believe they say that the 6 is a bit worse that the 5S

All reviews said 6 was better than 5S the ones where it was worse was during video tests due to moving more pixels I guess the extra 300mah is not enough to make it an improvement.

Used the iphone 6 about 3 hours continuously this morning and it got a little warm towards the top. Not hot and I'm not concerned about mine at all unless something changes but I don't foresee using it any differently. No, I don't play games that are labor intensive on smartphones, just quick hitters like Subway Surfers, Temple Run, Dots and Candy Crush.

I think I remember my 5 feeling hot on the first day. Indexing info, reinstalling and setting up apps, etc all at once. The issue went away after an hour or two. Never had a heat problem since. Hoping that is the case with these.

All phones get warm while using it.I have never had a phone that didn't get warm while actively using it and much more so using while the phone is charging. So am pretty sure it's just normal but if it gets too hot to hold then it might be a hardware issue.

When I first turned it on and was installing some apps felt a little warm.

Normal usage since then - couple videos - Web - text - some other apps - etc. Nothing else since that first initial steps. Cool to the touch for me

Same for me. It's always going to be warm when first setting up.

I used Maps for gps for 45min, shortly after that time, a notification kept coming up saying the iphone needs to cool down / getting too hot.
That was annoying. Using blue leather case on 6 regular.
Returning case, not worth $50. Already scratching and it's been 2 days and kept safe in a pocket with nothing to abuse it.

iphone 6 gets warm

all I was doing was surfing the web and it was getting uncomfortably warm in my hand. i'm disappointed in the battery life already.

What stuff can i turn off in settings that doesn't need to be running? This is ridiculous.

Not only ridiculous! An outrage, I tell ya!

Jesus H...calm down with the "ridiculous" nonsense.

I was having the same issue as well. My 4 day old brand new iPhone 6 kept getting hot from regular texting and Internet surfing.

I turned off background app refresh and it cooled down instantly.
