I used to have no problem picking my iPhone 5s off of a table, but the 6 is freakin' hard to grip when it's laying flat on it's back. It's so flat and the rounded edges make it super slippery.

Go ahead, try to pick up your iPhone 6 from the table.

PS: I usually try grabbing it by the sides with my thumb and fingers.

I find that the camera makes it protrude enough instead of laying flat so it is easy to pick up....

I feel that Apple is forcing you to buy one of there $45 cases due to the camera lens which extends out (would hate to have it scratched) and due to the rounded edges and difficulty in getting a good grip. I think Apple goofed on this one, they went for pretty instead of usability.

People are already so trained to put cases on their phones that I doubt Apple had to trick anyone into doing it. I ran with my 5S naked for a while (ended up putting a Magpul on it), and my fiancee freaked out. She was so worried something would happen because it didn't have a case.

On top of that, even if Apple were trying to drive up case sales, there are so many third party case makers that I doubt Apple would see much of a boost in the sales of their particular cases. And if they were trying to improve sales of their own cases, don't you think Apple would advertise the phone with the cases on? Every ad you see for the iPhone shows a naked phone.

This, the camera sticks out so i dont know what the OP was talking about, even laying it face down its fine.

OP might have fat fingers

I agree, it's so thin and the rounded edges make it very difficult to pick up...without a case.

This.
I recommend a case, so you can pick up the phone easily and you don't notice the protruding camera. And I don't like the back of the phone with the bands, so an opaque cover was the best choice for me

The camera lens is made out of sapphire. It won't scratch.

One reason why I have this Incipio case for my iPhone 6:

It actually makes it easier to pick up the phone. :)

This is like getting those front-branded, nasty Android/Windows smartphones with cases like these. I do not get why people ruin the aesthetics of their beautiful iDevices with tacky branding cases.

It should be perfectly looking and easy on the eyes, front, back and on the sides.
