iPhone 6+ keyboard, position of ABC key changes between upright and horizontal.

In portrait (upright) mode the "ABC/123"key is in bottom left corner, then smiley key.

In landscape (horizontal mode) the smiley key is in bottom left corner, then "ABC/123" key.

This does not happen on my wife's iPhone 5s or iPad, all devices running 8.1

Why would Apple do this?

It's the same on my 6 as well. It's definitely hard to get used to having a switched layout.
