Anyone know of screen issue, lcd or software? Screen was replaced a little over a year ago and this started happening today out of the blue. Still responds to touch etc.

This looks like a screen problem. It is possible that the phone screen cables have gotten loose or worse a damaged phone screen. You may want to check the connection and make sure that the cables are seated perfectly and while you're at it, clean the connector ports using a soft and dry toothbrush. Dust can actually accumulate within and will cause problems if left unchecked.
Don't be tempted to blow into it as saliva might get into the circuitry.

I agree, this is most likely a replacement screen gone bad. It's not uncommon, especially the if the shop that replaced it used a lower quality screen.
