I don't know why I never noticed this issue, maybe it's just developed more as my iPhone has aged? But anyway, all cables sort of "rock" side to side in the Lightning port. There's no distinct snap when it plugs in, it's more like a light thud. All cables do this, even regular Apple lightning cables. This one third party cable I have though (Omaker braided nylon MFI Certified lightning cable) literally loses connection if I move my phone slightly the wrong way.

What should I do? Just ride this out through September for when the new iPhone drops? I'm running out of space too because I was dumb enough to get a 16GB iPhone (wasn't entirely my decision but still) my iPhone's warranty is expired and I do not have apple care plus... I don't think there's anything stuck in there, but how can I safely try and clean the port just in case?

Use a toothpick or a plastic floss pick to pick things out of there.

I'll try this but I looked in there with a bright light and didn't see much. Probably looks normal and all when in fact the entire back of it might be coated with a layer of lint or something lol..

Same problem. Doesn't fell a snap. White iPhone 6 if it matters. But my 6 Plus is fine.

Still take a toothpick and gently see if lint is not packed in the orifice. If you carry in your pocket this lint gets packed in this area every night when you insert the charger. Getting it out will allow the plug to insert all,the way in.
