Confirmed here. Easy to replicate. 6. Apple extreme airport 5ghz. My iPhone 5s didn't drop like this.

I can replicate with ease. It drops a bar or two when my hand wraps around the top of the phone in landscape mode.

I've also seen it drop a bar just by laying it on its back on my bed.

Hands block wifi

I have the plus and the wifi is stronger than my 5s. I usually never have wifi in my room but now I do.

I had the power cycle once to get my wifi working after no networks were detected. Toggling off and on didn't fix. 6+

I have the exact same issue. When returning home the iPhone 6 will fail to connect to my home network (802.11 ac Airport Extreme). When you try to scan for networks the system fails to see any available networks. Requires power cycle or reset of 'Network Settings'. Maybe I will do a restore and see if it works.

I have this issue as well with my 6. Sometimes it fails to find any wifi connections in my house, and won't show any unless i restart the phone.

I tried resetting Networks Settings, it helped for a bit but it came back again. I also reset the phone to factory but the problem still persists.

This same problem occasionally happens on my fathers 6 plus too.

Edit: I have a case on my phone, but I removed that and tested it. It still happens randomly.

Same issue here. Did the restore fix it?

Ok, so I did a 'restore' (wipe/download fresh copy of iOS 8 from server/ reinstall) by plugging it into iTunes and it seems to have fixed the problem. If the problem returns I will post on this thread.

This also happens on my original iPad mini; covering the top part of the rear causes the WiFi indicator to drop from 3 to 2 bars. Soon after iOS boosts the signal and the indicator goes back up to 3. Once I remove my hand the system lowers signal strength again and the indicator drops briefly to 2, then goes back up to 3.

In other words this is nothing new. iOS 8, 2,4Ghz wireless-N on AC Time Capsule.

Hi, same here I lose wifi randomly and it takes s shut down to get it back? Anyone reported this to Apple?

That is pretty much to be expected.

Water absorbs wifi like nothing else. Take a gopro camera (which has wifi) and stick it under water; you'll lose the connection almost instantly.

Humans, of course, are largely water. So if you take your hands and envelop the antennae with them, they're going to block the signal. Add to that the difference in antenna polarisation when you rotated the device and presto, not enough signal left. Try rotating your wifi router('s antennas).

The thread title is misleading. It should read, "iphone loses signal when antenna are covered by hands". It has nothing to do with landscape position.

Today i had an appointment with the genius bar at an apple store.

I explained that it randomly loses wifi connection and won't show any networks to connect to that are in range for at least 30 minutes or until a power off+power on. I let him know that i reset the network settings and did a factory reset on the phone, but the problem still persisted.

So he checked through my iPhones logs and saw that the antennae was working properly but they ended up replacing my phone on the spot.

so far so good, haven't had any issues with the wifi thus far.

Great, I haven't had any issues since my 'restore'. It was probably just a corrupted file on the factory flash of the firmware.

Sounds like the "death grip" days of the iPad 3. WiFi would drop out if you held it in landscape by the button.
