apps are taking 5 seconds to even open, typing too fast makes all the letters play catch up, snapchat is black when opened for what feels like forever. Is it really this bad? iv restored, and tried setting up as new and its no better. 100+gb of free space too.

Hmm, my friend's 6 Plus is not the blaziest, but it's not that bad. The worst part is the delay when searching in spotlight, but no 5 seconds delay. And the 6 Plus is notoriously "slower" than a regular 6.
Having said that, the 6/6+ 1GB of RAM is a bottleneck.

I have an iPhone 6 and it's pretty much butter smooth.

Move photos and videos you do not need on the phone to other storage, clean mailbox, remove all browser history, reboot phone.

It's a 128gb model so the storage isn't even close to full like 100gb free space. My mail is real clean only emails I actually need are saved. Tried clearing browser and rebooting, cleared ram using home button hold trick. Deleted half my apps that I rarely use. No dice :( think my phones defective but then again, new iPhone around the corner usually means current or older iPhones run like ****, in my experience and what I've read there's a significant uptick in iPhone speed/function issues right before new iPhone releases :/

Tried a full reset? I use the 6,normal app start is 2-3 seconds for simpler apps. Have not noticed any significant performance drop yet, actually iOS 10.3.3 feels a little bit faster than older versions.

Yeah set it up as new twice now. Think this particular phone has had it tbh. If I had a spare $400 I'd trade it in for the s8!

I already told this to everybody when the iPhone 6 was released. It would go down in history as the worst iPhone ever. And iPhone 6s will go down as the best iPhone ever. Amd this isn't my opinion. It is a fact.

An iPhone 6 has a 5s like CPU and just 1 GB RAM. There's no hope.

Mine too. I just bought a 32gb one not too long ago and it is real smooth as well. I have about 13gb's left of available storage. Mine does not have a lot of pictures or music though. Mine is also on 10.3.3.

The 1GB RAM definitely was why I waited for the 6S. My iPhone 5 already has 1GB RAM, so my next phone should have more.

Personally I don't think the CPU is the culprit. But the GPU of the A8 is not as huge as a jump (compared to the A9). This causes lags, especially on the 6 plus.
