There isn't one. Unfortunately this has been a topic that comes up with every iphone. With current battery tech there simply is no reason to stress about when and how long you charge.

Use an apple approved charger. Plug in when it's available and convenient. You will be fine.

I will say that, based in your usage reports, your battery life is a bit low. But don't stress. Use it a while. Use it how you normally would. If it's still low apple should take care of you. Using it for a single day with a single charge isn't going to give you a real understanding of how anything performs, really.

Thanks.

How about charging? (as opposed to draining it). When you charge it, do you charge it all the way to 100% each time (or is best not to charge to the max) eg. do you charge to say only 80%. Or does it not matter so much with recharging?

Same answer to this as before. It doesn;t matter. Charging it to full isn't going to damage your battery. Charging it to 80% will not do anything either.

Every battery has a limited number of charge cycles. Those numbers are generally in the thousands. A single charge cycle is literally a full charge from dead to 100%. Let's say you charged your battery from 75 to 100 one day. Then 50 to 100 the next. Finally another day of 75 to 100. That counts as one charge cycle.

Further, there is no longer such a thing as overcharging. The phone's hardware handles all of that. Once it's at 100 it will no longer continue to charge. It will allow it to discharge some before actually charging the battery again. On occasion you may see your battery at 99% after an overnight charge. That would be why.

There is actually a good, though short, explanation of batteries on Apple's site.
