So I was trying to FaceTime with someone shortly after getting my new iPhone 6 Plus and they complained that there was no audio. I called a few other stores on speaker because I still have the factory wrap on it, and they all complained of the same thing.

I'm on the phone with Apple as I type, but I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue?

So the factory wrap is on the phone? Does it cover the mic?

The mic for facetime is right where the earpiece is, above the screen.

If you left the plastic on the front it will cover this mic and Facetime will NOT WORK.

Take the plastic off, or at least peel it down enough to uncover the mic if you're testing it before reselling.

EDIT: I should say that I didn't realize this for YEARS until I was facetiming with someone and accidentally brushed the earpiece area, and she went "OWW!". I blinked and did some testing and yep, there's a mic there. Who knew! :)

Not the main Mic, but...

Omg, this makes sense now! I feel like an idiot. Trying now.

EDIT: It works! Thanks everyone!

THANKS A LOT MAN. I made an account just to say thank you!!

This makes perfect sense to have the mic away from the main speaker when speaker mode is turned on. If the mic is next to the main speaker, your caller will hear their own voice (feedback from the main speaker being too close to the mic).

Same issue here! I have removed the wrap still not working! Please, someone, help me!

Thank you, you have solved the problem that neither I nor any of the "Apple geniuses" could figure out (I had to create an account just to say thank you)

I just got a new iphone 6 yesterday and had the same problem. You helped solve the problem ! Thank you !

To all my post have helped... you're welcome!

It seems a lot of people like to leave that plastic on as a screen protector. It doesn't really make a very good one, though; it will wear out quickly and become tattered. Best to just remove it right off the bat and get a real screen protector if you want one. :)
