Hey guys,

So I got my new iPhone 6 a week ago, but accidentally dropped it on the floor. It wasn't very high and the phone was protected with a case as well. It has a hairline crack on the top of the screen now and 2 little dents in the aluminium case. I was just wondering if this can still qualify for a replacement.

Thanks a lot!

Out of warranty replacement or if you have AppleCare+ your covered. Other than that your out of luck

I've read somewhere on this forum that hairline cracks are often replaced since it's a sign of a defective glass. Try taking your phone to a Genius and explain the situation as nice as possible.

If you don't have Apple Care you are out of luck. Others on this forum have spoken about replacements being made for hairline cracks in the screen but that was for non-trauma related. The dents will prove otherwise.

It's a sign of defective glass only if there is no other damage (like dents and impacts) that look related.

And even if they do decide to fix the glass under warranty, they'll likely just replace the glass and leave OP with the dent, unless s/he decides to go OOW or burn an Applecare+ damage instance.

If you used a credit card for the purchase, check with your card company. Many cover 90 days of accidental damage and theft and add a year to the manufacture warranty.

Hairline cracks are covered, dents probably aren't. I would assume if you went in for a separate issue that they would look past the hairline crack, but I doubt Apple would replace the phone (or display) just for the crack.

It definitely depends on your genius, however. Yesterday my friend brought her 6+ that had 3/4ths of the third party cover glass completely gone (yes the touch screen somehow worked), and the home button missing. She walked in with no appointment, turned on the waterworks, and walked out with a brand new phone free of charge.

Take it in anyway. They'll look for impact points, and having dents are not necessarily impact points (as aluminum is soft and can dent easily). If they can't find one, they'll replace the single hairline crack under warranty. You shouldn't admit that you dropped it though.
