its the SAME glass as the 5 and 5S. It is something that YOU did.

either keys, coins, whatever it may be, hell even something very small on a kitchen table and you lay it face down.

sigh, its the same gorilla glass as the 5 and 5S.

end of story

Please tell all of us how you know it is the "exact same gorilla glass".

Show us where you found this fact!

So many opinions here and so few facts.

It's been my understanding that the 6 uses the next generation of Gorilla Glass. Whatever the case may be, I saw a comparison test on YouTube where a scotchbrite pad was applied with equal force to a 5S screen and a 6 screen, and while both did scratch, the 6's screen was far more resistant than that of the 5S.

Anyway, FWIW, my Space Gray 128GB 6 remains 100% scratch-free, and it's been sans screen protector since launch.

Regards,
Adam

That's why I have a screen protector on my iPhone 6. :) It keeps the screen itself from being scratched--that's why I had a protector on my old Samsung Galaxy S III phone.

If I'm so careless with my smartphones why don't my other phones have scratches?

I spent $1000 on my iPhone 6. Trust me I'm not careless with it. My iPhone 6 always going in pouch when i put it in my purse.

I'm not saying every iPhone 6 is scartch vulnerable but it is possible a batch of then have screen coating issues.

The scartch on my phone and my friend's iPhone 6 isn't deep. Just if the surface which leads me to believe it is the coating.

Same story for me, had the 5s without a screen protector for a whole year and it is flawess, but my 6 is only 3 weeks old and had some noticeable scratches on the corners of the glass.

Just noticed a scuff on the bottom left corner on the edge of the glass where it curves down. I have the apple case and of course this is where the screen is exposed.

Not sure if that would have protected it because not sure how it even happened. It's never in a pocket with anything else and it hasn't been dropped or hit. I'd love to know.

Disappointing. I wish they could have gotten the sapphire working.

i didnt say you were careless, the glass is the same, if not stronger.

There isnt another supplier that can give apple millions of glass screens, and why would they change companies when they are still and was making it for the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C

its the same glass, so I'm saying its something that you did which made it get scratched.

Dont get so defensive, but to say the glass is different is absurd because its not. I try my best to treat my phone like baby too, but it just happens. And i just hate screen protectors.

never did i ever blame the device. i've scratched my screens on my 4S and my 5S, because i had coins or keys or sometimes i laid it face down and it accidentally put my hand and body weight on it slid and there was some type of pebble or something that scratched it.

i never went "oh damn apple with their faulty device" it was my mistake that i put my phone in the same pocket as my keys and when i sat down it pressed against it and made a scratch.

the screens are pretty scratch resistant, maybe there was just too much pressure with your phone and whatever scratched it.

but its pretty sturdy. there has to be a reasonable amount of force make it scratch.

i know its frustrating because it is when you get scratches, but your claims are the ones just fueling the fire like bendgate, hairgate, and now screengate?

I'm just saying something must of happened, scratches dont just appear out of nowhere.

these things are mass produced from factories, yes there are defects, but the chances of your phone and your friends phone being defective is highly unlikely.

This.

Not everything is a "thing".

Now everyone calm down. **** happens.
Welcome to life.

I've had my iPhone 6 for a few days now and the glass is absolutely perfect. Yes, I have been babying it, but what I'm most surprised by is that there are no surface scratches (i.e. oleophobic coating) so far.

With every iPhone I've had before (3GS and up), there have been at least a couple of coating scratches within a couple of days of normal, careful use.

Something is definitely different this year, and I like it. I'm avoiding a screen protector, since I love the feeling of swiping across the curved edges.

AppleCare+ is something I'm definitely going to invest in, however, like I did with my iPhone 5s.

Ditto

When you have bigger screen space, you have more potential of scratches. Obviously don't put it in the same pocket as your keys!

My screen still looks good. No marks! I don't like/use screen protectors.

I think the dark space grey would show more marks than the silver/gold.

I haven't babied mine in the slightest. I've dropped it already and there's some disappointing damage to the bottom corner. I have a few tiny scratches on the back from using it naked for a week but the screen is fine.

----------

If I'm so careless with my smartphones why don't my other phones have scratches?

because correlation does not equal causation.
