Hi all,

I'm on my fourth iPhone 6 right now, and 7th screen among the devices. Sounds crazy, but I've had one replaced for the front camera coming loose, four (#) screens/phones replaced because they came loose from the housing and started clicking, and most recently had a bent iPhone.

Throughout all of that, I've had two screens that I would consider worthy of keeping from a uniformity standpoint. I suppose I should feel lucky that I keep having other issues that allow for replacements. My screens often have a smudgy or yellow area, or one side is clearly brighter than the other.

I have the opportunity to get a new 6+. My question is, how is the screen uniformity, in general, for 6+ users? I haven't ready nearly as many complaints about them, but that could just be the number of users. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

My 6+ was perfect right out of the box. But honestly the things you mention I don't even think I'd notice unless I was really examining the phone very close for any types of imperfections. With that said, nothing jumps out with anything like what you're describing.

Hope you can find one that's solid. All this stuff can't be fun I imagine.

Hey I feel your pain!! I'm on my 5th iPhone 6 and I've had the same problems as you! 4 out of 5 have the FaceTime camera problem including my current one that I have. This one has the most decent screen out of them all so I'm hanging on to it till the end of warranty. But yes I know what you mean about the uniformity! All of mine before this were much worse. Yellowing and dark corners and obvious color temperature shift and dark blotchy smudges that you could see on white backgrounds. Some would even move around when gently pressing on the screen. The one I have now is mostly evenly lit but still has a fingerprint sized smudge in the middle right. But I'm afraid I'll get something worse if I send it back again. This one they sent me isn't even a replacement. It was brand new in a sealed box straight from Apple. Still having problems! Bad quality control this time around. Anyways as for the 6+ from everything I've read and seen they don't seem to have as many issues with the screen uniformity. Good luck!

Works fine here, and I'm quite anal on little details. 4 replacements is pretty high defect for one person.

How are you handling your phones? This reminds me of a lady who repeatedly keeps coming back to bmw dealer because her signaling stick always breaks after a while. It was thought to be a defect or bad luck, until a tech drive along with her, only to find she would hang her large purse on it. :D

and have you consider using a tin can telephone? :D

My 6 Plus is ever so slightly warmer at the top vs the bottom but I learned to live with it. Everything else is perfect with the phone and I have too many other things going on in my life to let it bother me :)

Haha I'm considering it! Honestly I keep my phone in a case, keep it in my front pocket, don't throw it around. I'm generally pretty careful with my tech. For whatever reason, I've run into a bunch of problems with the 6. Had to replace my 4 once and my 5 once - each time the sleep/wake button broke. It's just been a bevy of issues with the 6. I haven't heard of anything but bending on the 6+, which is why I'm considering going that route.

Hi all, just wanted to give an update. After about 5 weeks of thinking about making a decision (and waiting through Lent, for which I'd given up buying non-essential items), I went ahead with the trade. I now have a 6 plus, and the screen is just beautiful. My crazy mind tries to find things wrong with it, but there's nothing to be found. I'm really happy with my decision.

As an aside, I visited several Apple stores over the course of the 5 weeks. Almost every 6 that I picked up had some sort of noticeable smudging or brighter corner. Normal users wouldn't notice the difference, but they stood out to me. Meanwhile, one out of the twenty or so 6 pluses that I picked up had a noticeable smudgy spot. That's what ultimately pushed me to pull the trigger on the trade.

iPhone 6+ Screen Uniformity

Yeah I noticed that with the 6. I was going to get a 6 as a second device but the yellow and grey spots on the demos in the Apple Store put me off. So I've gone for an Xiaomi Mi4 for my spare which was half the cost. Screen still isn't perfect but I don't mind when it only cost £260.

My 6 plus screen is perfect even tone.
