Sooo, I was half asleep driving to work this morning and decided to put my iPhone in my cupholder while driving. Little did I know I had spilled coffee in said cupholder the day before. The bottom part of the phone was submerged in about 1/2 inch of coffee up to the top of the home button for the entire 30 minute drive.

To my surprise everything still works, except the the sound coming from the speaker is much more muted and crackly. Just wondering how much it would cost to repair this-- if the water sensor wasn't triggered is there a possibility I could get it fixed for free?

There's a chance that there is still moisture in the speaker causing your issue, it may be ok once it dries out. You could try putting your phone in a sandwich bag filled with dry rice to pull the moisture out. Here's a link on the moisture indicators. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204104
