Carrier Iphone 6 - Switching Carriers for the deals?

Currently have iphone 5, im with verizon, not on a contract, with an unlimited data plan. I had to buy my iphone 5 full price. Looking at getting a 6 or 6+ Notice a lot of carrier offering deals out there. Since I am the only one who uses my phone, not big on share plans. Has anyone switched carriers when the iphone 6 came out to chance a deal? What has your experience been?

Being a pilot, I'm on the road/airports a lot. Most airports do not have free wifi. This month (haven't been flying much) used under 1 GB of data, last month was 6GB, month before 7GB.
