Google today released its "Year in Search" feature, highlighting popular and trending searches for 2014 in a number of categories. Unsurprisingly, a number of Apple-related search terms ranked highly among the most trending searches in the Consumer Electronics category, with "iPhone 6" taking #1, "Apple Watch" taking #8, and "iPad Air" taking #10.

Other popular search terms in the Consumer Electronics category include "Samsung Galaxy S5" which took #2, "Xbox One" which took #7, and "Nokia X" which took #9. Google's top 10 overall trending searches of the year did not include any tech products, however Dong Nguyen's ultra-popular app Flappy Bird did take the #6 spot.

Last year, Apple-related terms like "iPhone 5s", "iOS 7", and "iPad Air" ranked highly among the most popular Google searches for 2013, coming in at #3, #11, and #68, respectively. Apple-related terms also performed strongly in the trending tech category last year, with the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad Air, iPad mini, and even the iPhone 6 all placing among the top ten.

I feel like the only reason Samsung Galaxy S5 is up there is because it's always being compared to the iPhone...

Something is up here... Peppa Pig the number one searched TV show?

Edit: I did choose worldwide but perhaps this is UK only given the rest of the results.... Phew!

Well Even I wouldn't say that. It's the most well known Droid phone. Not the best. The HTC One M8 is way better... but then again the iPhone 6 is better than that :D

Of course Apple is going to be feature in tech searches.... Be it for positive or negative reasons , Apple is a huge company with a huge following.

By that reasoning, iPhone 6 is only top because it's being compared to android devices, I don't think so.

The s5 is a good device if your into android, and for the price you can pick them up theses days a much better bang for your buck than an iPhone. Given iPhones are not discounted, I can see a lot of people searching for S5 to get a good deal ;) and plenty to be had.

If only I could find one...yeah, that'd be great.

I'm amazed these are hard to come by in the U.S. , in the UK you can pick them up everywhere.

I wonder if Youtube searches are included there? That would explain Peppa Pig - My kids love that show and are endlessly playing youtube clips on their iPads. We're in Sweden :)

My biggest surprise was Flappy Bird in the trending category. Seriously? Weird how that viral thing works out sometimes, would love to be on the right side of that once in my life :)

last year I remember that they had a comparison of top results between google, bing, and yahoo, i believe. That was more interesting to see how peoples behavior was different depending on the search engine. does anyone have something like that this year?

You can't be serious. I guess the reason couldn't be it is probably the most well known(not best) android phone.right?

Yeah because a phone that sells nearly as well or better in many countries shouldn't even be on that list right...

I find it more interesting that Moto G is in the top5 this year, considering its a handset released late last year and is a budget handset as well (with a minor revision with a 4g version mid-this year)

While I was between iphones I had one and really liked it, very durable, no bloatware at all and gets pretty regular updates from Moto as well.

The high number of searches had to do with people's iPhones bricking as a result of the sloppy iOS 8 release - help, help, help.

This is nothing more than Android fanboys in their mom's basements searching the internet so they ridicule the iPhone and its users.

Been told there are the following categories of Android users. Each group has their reasons not going iPhone. In order of presume volume sales.

1) Mass consumer, iPhone is too expensive or not available in a give market
2) Enterprise, better volume deals than iPhone
3) Apple haters, Q.E.D.
4) Technical anarchists, iPhone too restrictive in security

My kids are always watching Peppa Pig over here in Canada.

Except that "bricking" is almost a non-existent problem, except for the tens of thousands of 6 and 6+ users that updated to 8.0.1- not anywhere near enough people to have an effect on something like a list of popular searches.

But of course, you're probably not interested in facts- pesky things like that make it harder to push anti-Apple narratives.

So, you're saying that in reality, EVERYONE WANTS an iPhone, and if they have an Android phone instead, then they must fit into one of the four categories? Maybe, just maybe, there are some people like Android better? Maybe they CAN afford an iPhone, but PREFER Android?
