Did some searching but couldn't find anything specifically related.

Voice quality on my iPhone 6 seems odd - it is kind of the opposite of muffled - almost too clear and unnatural but at the same time a bit quieter than it should be. It seems to be specifically when talking to other iPhone 6 or 5s users. The call sounds normal for the first few seconds and then it switches over to sound more tinny. From the searching I did it I thought it may be related to the noise cancellation, but I've tried turning that on and off on my 6 and my wife's 5s and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I tried calling from a 6 at the Sprint store and that one did the same thing. For that matter, could it be a carrier issue...? Now that I think of it, the users I have noticed it with also happen to be on Sprint.

Maybe it is this HD Voice thing:
http://money.cnn.com/2014/04/30/technology/mobile/sprint-hd-voice/
"It also includes technology to eliminate background noise"

So it sounds like there is some noise cancellation going on regardless of how it is set on the phone.

Anyway maybe I answered my own question but would appreciate other thoughts or observations.
