Just got back from the service centre and I wanna rant.

I took my phone in because of the famous cresentgate issue present on my iphone 6 (the facetime camera module is misaligned with the cutout). The officer said that they will bring the phone back to apple and repair it for me.. Everything was going smooth at first until they told me my warranty has been voided because after they opened up my phone, they found water droplets in the inner sides of the phone. And I promise you it was just a tiny water mark!!!

The problem is the phone that I have (7 months old), had never been submerged into water or spill any drinks on it and I've been using it with my spigen case since the day I bought it. The only option they gave me was to pay up SGD550 (USD400), which is freaking ridiculous, to get a brand new set of phone... I told them I shall pass on the replacement for now and use it till the phone is in **** condition before paying that money to them.

I also did asked him how can this be, and he said "maybe you touch the phone when your hands are wet and water seeped through the sides" <---- his words.

I just feel it is ridiculous. So I was just wondering if anyone had encountered similar issue of being told they have their water in the phone without submerging/spilling water on it?

Lesson learnt: always get applecare.

I suspect that there is more to this story. Hard to believe that the Geek said it could have been wet hands. The water got in the phone somehow and Apple has no reason to lie to you.

Have you ever brought the phone into your bathroom, laying on the counter, using the shower perhaps that will cause moister (Steam) into the phone, or being in Singapore, and hot/humid conditions that (May) cause this...Just throwing this out, or did it rain, and got a little bit wet perhaps ?

A friend of mine ruined a mac book pro by bringing it in the bathroom with her. Music while showering. All water sensors were red. Steam will trigger them

yeah, might be the rain and using it in the toilet that caused the whole thing. sucks but on the brighter side, now I can go case-less and use it crash and burn style before paying up haha!

email Tim Cook. I did when I had problems twice. It takes couple days to call them back.

I believe multiple moist sensors have to be tripped to be considered out of warranty.
If it was just a one time grabbing it with wet hands it wouldn't be that bad.
So I'd contact Applecare anyway to see if they can re evaluate it and if there is water damage like they said with water inside and corrosion then at least you tried.
I never use my phone in the rain, big nono.

Can anybody confirm this? My girlfriend slipped and landed flat on her back with her phone in her back pocket. There was some strange screen behavior and the earpiece speaker stopped working for a short time. We were told by a genius that they couldn't do anything because the moisture sensor on the inside near the top had been tripped. The sim tray and headphone jack sensors were fine.
