Hi everyone,

Please before you start asking how in the world 16gb is enough for you? It's just is, I use the phone as a phone and have a subscription with iCloud so it is not an issue for me.

What concerns me the most is a resale value next year for my 6s 16gb. Considering the 16gb is no longer a starting capacity and whether the price next year for my 6s will drastically depreciate.

What would you suggest if it actually does?

I don't have a problem getting a 7 but I just feel guilty in doing so. I'm on every two years upgrade, I buy unlocked and sell unlocked every two years. Financing is not my thing when I can afford buying unlocked.

You MIGHT be able to sell it for 150 bucks next year. MIGHT.

Yes. The 16GB thing will be a big negative.

Considering 16GB iPhone 6 (not 6S) is going for an average of around $300 on Swappa right now, I'd anticipate around the same for 6S a year from now. $150 is *far* undershooting the mark.

I dunno. I do not think people will want 16GB phones for hundreds of dollars next year when the market is flooded with higher capacity 7 and 7 plus used models for sale.

True. At the moment, a used 16GB 6s is in the ball park of $275.00. With the tenth anniversary iPhone coming, the 6s price Will drop dramatically. Like you stated, the market will have loads of iPhone 7's on the market.

Time will tell... the retirement of the 16GB model does add a new wrinkle to the valuation model; but the bulk of the used iPhone market (AFAIK) is not traditionally focused on storage, but rather value. And all those 7/7+'s next year will be significantly more $$ than the 6S, because it's a newer generation. (There will also now be 32GB 6S's in the mix; but I'd still be v surprised to see a fire sale on the older 16GB models. iPhones hold value better than that.)

Won't be a fire sale (yet), but the heyday of the 16gb phone is over.

There is a glut of 6/+ 16gb phones already and the 6s/+ is sure to follow but maybe at a slower place because the 3.5mm jack.

The moment I think getting a 64 gb 6s I might as well get a 7. My plan is most likely just get a 7 in a few months and break my break my upgrade every 2 years.

Even now, I have trouble selling my 16GB 6S+. People are avoiding the 16GB like a plague because Apple is making 32GB as the new minimum. They treat 16GB like a defective product.

Do yourself a big favour, avoid 16GB at all cost.

My family had the 16gb 6s. They said it would be fine. Flash forward to this year and they all are doing fine....by deleting apps and photos all the time to stay at the useable space, around 11 gb. We had to upgrade, and they all skipped the 32gb and went for 128gb.

I agree that the 16gb won't have much of a resell market.

my advice - sell your 16gb for as much as u can now - and pick up a great condition used 6s or 6s plus 64gb etc

if you lucky- u may just need to add another 50-100 bucks

It'll still be worth a decent amount. Some people can get by with only 16gb's just to have a nice iPhone. I wouldn't overcharge anyone though.
