Hi

I am using my iPhone 6S for my music through my car stereo. While my car stereo has bluetooth for the phone, it cannot proccess bluetooth audio like my wifes car, so I need to use the Aux cable instead. This works fine, but the volume is low.

Here is an example.

When listening to DAB Radio, my volume is on 8 and it is very loud.
When listening to CD, my volume is 8 and it is very loud.
When listening to Apple Music via Aux, the volume is on 16 to meet the same volume level.

Everything is on max, sound boost is on, and its running fine. Just the volume is low.

Would I be better getting an adaptor to allow audio out from the Lightning Port instead? Or would this still be the same volume?

Also, my old 3GS was amazingly loud on Aux - but the newer models are nowhere near as punchy.

Good question... u could try the lightning connector.. I’ve never done that. I use Bluetooth.. my old car didn’t have BT so I would use the AUX from headphone jack. Same result as you. I believe it’s an impedance mismatch or something of that nature. Or could be a limit setting on 6s.. I’m just glad my new car had BT..no engine whine..lol

I could upgrade the BT in the car to accept the audio via BT, but it is a faff and expensive. I would be better fitting a new HU instead with Apple Car Play or similar.

I will have a look at the Lightning connectors. I read somewhere that the voltage that the phone puts out via the Aux Jack could have been reduced on newer phones with the increased power consumption they have in general. Someone was working on a booster, but that fizzled into nothing eventually.
