I just wanted to share my experience with the iPhone 6s Unexpected Shutdown Battery Replacement program. While I only experienced the random shutdown issue a handful of times, usually with around 10% left, my battery would definitely go through phases where it would drain very quickly, so I figured I would wait about a year to let the initial demand for the free battery replacement die down a bit and get as much time as I could with my current battery as I love the 6s and don't plan to upgrade anytime soon. Coconut Battery would report 70-80% battery health, depending on the day. More often than not, it was in the 70s.

My Genius Bar appointment was at 10:50. After about a five minute wait, I explained my issue to the employee, told him I had already verified that my serial number was eligible, backed up, and turned off Find My iPhone. He ran diagnostics (wirelessly, which I thought was pretty cool), typed some things, and said it would be done same day, in less than an hour and half. No further questions asked. By 12:15 I had my phone back in my hand in the exact same condition I left it. Tested it and Coconut Battery shows 100% health!

Even with a busy store, I was surprised at how easy and painless this all was. It pretty much required no hassle at all besides going to the store and being without a phone for a little over an hour. I had read some not so good reports for about a year ago regarding this process, but, for me at least, it was awesome. If your 6s qualifies, I definitely recommend you breath some new life into your phone with a fresh new battery. The program runs until September 2018.
