My iPhone heats up when I'm doing simple tasks like reading Facebook and Twitter.
Is this normal?

Depends on what you mean by heating up. Jus the display backlights create a good bit of heat and cpu intensive apps will add to it. Only time I notice mine getting a little warm is on a long phone call as I do not do games or social media. Facebook is a known battery hog and much of the battery's energy is always wasted in heat.

Just run geekbench and check if your CPU is made by Samsung. My sister's 6S heats up like crazy and it is Samsung. Reduced battery life is also a nice bonus.

N71mAP = TMSC,
N71AP = Samsung

You can full reset and set it up as new. If it still heats without doing much, get it replaced by Apple.

My 6S is not too bad, but does get warm.
My 5S will go really hot and nothing works (closing all apps) other than turning of for a while.
