my last iphone was iPhone 4S and it ruined up after a foolish update that the hardware couldn't match up with the newer version, it was a regret back to a few years ago.

Now I want to use an iPhone again

iPhone 8 is good but it's expensive. iPhone 7 is a good option too but I can see that iPhone 6S is still a better price

Should I get an iPhone 6S now?

In fact, the price for an 6S 32GB is just right for me. But if it will go slow in a year or two then I think I will just forget it.

I expect to use an iPhone for at least 3 years before next purchase.

The iPhone 6s should see another two years of support. But for the price difference, the iPhone 7 can be found for now that much more for the 32 GB option. But you have to ask yourself what you're comfortable with price point and what do you want from both of these iPhones.

64GB is enough for me

but the price for an iPhone 7 128GB is approx. close to the price of iPhone 8 64GB

In that case, I cannot see the reasons for an iPhone 7 128GB because 64GB is enough for me

The question now is - Can iPhone 6S work smoothly for another two years? will the next iOS (maybe iOS 12) ruin it?

There's no definitive way to know how the 6s will perform smoother or not with future iOS updates But if it's in your best interest and affordable for your price point, it's still a good phone for the time being.

Yes I think it can. I think the bottleneck will be RAM and Apple has not increased that since 6s for 4.7", though 7 plus gained an extra 1GB.

But stay away from 6 and 5s.

i think i am going to get iPhone 7 32GB, as an insurance to future update....

However, I am worrying if 32GB is too little capacity

definitely will stay away from 6 and 5S

but thinking if 6S is a steal. or if it's a trap....

personally I have exceeded the 32GB limit, so I would choose 128GB 6s over 32GB 7. IOS 11 though has a new features to save space, like uninstalling less used apps but keeping the data and 7 support HEVC for video recording. Comparable video take up half the space in HEVC, but 96GB is a lot extra room for recording video and 6s does have HEVC hardware decoding for playback.
