Due to some problems with my iphone 6s i decided to try resolve it by doing a restore. After the restore the phone could not be activated and is stuck on the acvtivation lock screen for days now.

Regular procedure after a restore would be activating your phone with your apple id, but the hinted email on the activation lock does not exist hence i am not able to deactivate the lock, email shows as "h*****@1******.com" a email that i have never used or seen before. Applecare representatvies INSIST that it was the email i used to register the phone the first time, either that or I did not purchase the phone brand new, which i can gaurantee that only I have access to this phone and my computer that did the restore. I own multiple ios devices and know what my appleid is since i use it on a weekly basis (downloading apps etc....). btw, i have not activated find my iphone in any of my apple devices.

Iphone was preordered and purchased brand new from att at launch day, phone has applecare. I requested a copy of the receipt from att so that i can try have apple actviate it.

So now i am without my phone for almost a week, apple is taking their time to "maybe unlock it" or my nearly $1k phone will be left a brick if they insist that it is not my phone.

Has anyone ran into something like this before? or can recommend me a way out of this. Thanks

Hey man, when I was in the process of wiping and selling my 6S+, I restored my phone and when the process was completed, it was showing a email that I have never seen before, I have no idea how that happened because the device was brand new from Best Buy and never been activated with anyone else's information.

So i contacted Apple and since I had my original sales receipt I uploaded to them and the phone was unlocked within a few days. I am not sure what triggered this but I had the exact same issue. When i was on the phone with the rep, they said they have never heard of this happening.

Do you have to original receipt?

I recently sold mine and the buyers ended up sending it overseas to relatives. She contacted me over a month later and said basically the relative did a software upgrade and this same issue happened. It was locked with some strange email. Basically long story short, I sent her a picture of the receipt (I bought brand new from Apple) and they were able to get it unlocked once they showed Apple the receipt.

Sounds like this issue is more common than I thought.....

Yeah, its really weird.
I gave up contacting apple support, as this was my main phone i dont have days to wait.
I went into a apple store with the receipt and they unlocked it on the spot within half and hour. The support told me that even if I went into the store it would still take me days since they would do the same procedure which is BS.

I am pretty sure its not a stolen device, and this is not the first time I had it restored. The phone imei and serial number matches the box which I stored away since I got the phone. So being stolen is out of the question.

I tried to update the software on my Iphone 6s Plus that I purchased from the Apple store new about a year ago. When I reached the activation lock screen it would not accept my apple ID which has not changed for about a decade now. It shows a hint email address that is supposed to be the right one but I have never seen it before. Basically sitting here with a bricked phone.

Again I bought this phone brand new from Apple, has anyone else seen this happen? Any tips would be appreciated since Apple has told me it may take 24 hours to resolve, which seems like complete ******** to me.

Becoming a common issue. Get your receipt and show to apple and they will unlock it.

Yeah there was def something going on because I went through the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago. Definitely was phishing.

im suprised apple doesnt recognize this issue, they insist that i must have switched find my iphone on somehow because it wont make sense for hackers to do that since they don't gain anything by doing this. if this happens dont wast time calling applecare support, they dont know what they are doing and is incompetant. just go into a apple retail store and they will unlock it for you within a few min.

dont waste time calling customer support, their support team is full of **** and has degraded alot compared to a couple years ago. apple store can unlock it for you in a few min

This has happened to me before. Twice on 2 different phones. Went to the apple store, showed them my receipt, they asked for ID and they unlocked on the spot. The first one happened on a 3 week old iphone purchased brand new from apple.
